As part of its activities to ensure better service for its customers, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in conjunction with MOJEC International Ltd. has embarked on a meter replacement scheme to ensure that its customer meters are in line with NERC-approved regulations.

The meter replacement scheme which kicked off in July is to ensure that the AEDC is better able to serve the needs of consumers under its coverage area. Currently, customers with these obsolete meters are not properly captured in AEDC’s records and the DisCo will have challenges responding to or dealing with any issues they may have in terms of service provision.

Speaking on the meter replacement scheme, Abuja Project Manager MOJEC International Ltd, Mr. Tobi Odeyemi said “AEDC is working continuously to ensure improved services for its customers, and as a trusted and valued partner of the DisCo, MOJEC is doing all we can to support the DisCo in providing smart meters for the customers”.

The replacement meter exercise is currently taking place for customers within the Garki, Wuse, and Maitama areas and for customers within that axis who are yet to get prepaid meters, it is also an avenue for customers to take advantage of this opportunity to acquire them.

The MOJEC MAP initiative is also taking place across the different regions of Abuja alongside its mobile MAP scheme. The mobile MAP scheme is an initiative in which consumers can get metered under a period of 24 to 48 hours.

Speaking earlier at the introduction of the mobile MAP scheme in Abuja, the Regional Manager of AEDC FCT West, Chris Chime stressed the importance of the mobile MAP scheme, stating that the AEDC had closed over 62,000 metering gaps across the FCT West axis of Abuja.
The mobile MAP initiative is currently ongoing at the following locations; Zuma, Bwari, Apo, Lokogoma, Lugbe, and Gwagalada areas of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
