A Cry For Help! - Save Okesola Tiwalade Oluwasegun by kakakimedia: 7:21am On Jul 11, 2022
MY HEALTH TRAVAILS.

I have kept the story of my ill health condition and challenges away from social media for years because I was told to stay off social media platforms. Despite staying away from social media platforms, my health has not improved, rather it is sadly deteriorating drastically. I feel it's time for me to share my story with the world at large. It is said that "a closed mouth is a closed destiny." I choose to cry out for help now than die in silence, excruciating pains and discomfort.

(1)BRIEF INTRODUCTION:

FAMILY BACKGROUND:
I am Oluwasegun Tiwalade Okesola. Popularly known as an undergraduate at the University as SETIOK and at secondary school as TEDDYBEAR. I am from Omu, Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State. I am in my late 20's. I am from a Polygamous family. My father married 3 wives. My mother is the 3rd wife. I do not have a biological sibling(s) but I've half-brothers and half-sisters. I am the last born of both parents. My father is late, I do not know him. He died when I was 4 years old. My mother is alive and she's aged, she's in her late 70's. I'm also the only surviving son of my father.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
I am a product of Baptist Academy, Obanikoro, Lagos State - BAPTACAD. I am a graduate of Social Studies Education from the prestigious citadel of learning - Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ijebu-ode, Ogun State. I graduated with a 2nd Class Upper Degree grade. I am the convener of a project tagged - TASUED TO THE WORLD, which is a project geared to showcase the giant strides of my alma mater by sharing her success stories, history and achievements to the ever evolving world.

WORK/CAREER:
My dream career was to become a professional footballer which was abandoned due to tertiary education pursuit which was the long time dream of my aged mother for me but I still wanted to try and see if I could make it to be a professional footballer after my service year and I was on the path before the strange sickness came up and has incapacitated me for over 3 years and 3 months now, till date. I am also a content writer who writes for individuals and also writes on different topics on freelancing sites and blogs. I also work as an online marketer who connects buyers to sellers (affiliate marketing). I am also a digital marketer and graphics designer in training.

(2)THE SICKNESS:

BACKGROUND OF THE SICKNESS:
I was serving at Tsaragi, a community in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State - the state I was posted to for my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.

I played every minute of the inter-platoon football competition at Yikpata Camp, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State in November 2018. My platoon was the 1st runner-up. After I left camp, I also played in an inter-CDS football competition at Share, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. I was the joint top goal scorer of the competition and I also scored the winning goal in the final of the competition and the team I played for won the competition for the first time since the football competition started some years ago. I was nicknamed - 'Machinery' at the competition due to my strong physical strength, dribbles, goal-scoring acumen and technical abilities.

A week after the competition in March 2019, I was training for another football competition. That was when I noticed I started feeling weak. I started falling down easily and do take a rest at intervals during training. I stopped training.

I went to the maternity centre (the only hospital-like health facility) at Tsaragi town where I was serving then. I told the only nurse I met there about the symptoms I've been experiencing. She ran some test on me and said I had typhoid and water infection. I was admitted for a day. I was infused with drips and injections. I was recommended to buy some medications. I bought the medications and I went to the Corpers lodge I resided. I started using the medications but my health didn't improve. Rather, it deteriorated drastically.

It got to a stage where I couldn't stand again nor sit without assistance from someone. I was always lying down. Later, one of the 2 other corp members in the lodge I resided who were passing out of service said she doesn't think I should stay there alone that I can't take care of myself in this condition, alone. I accepted her advice and we all left for Lagos together.

After two (2) nights at home, the blood I pass out during bowel movements started flowing endlessly and the pains increased. I was rushed to the general hospital at my resident area then - Somolu General Hospital at about 11:45pm.

I was admitted at the emergency unit of the hospital for a week. I was stabilized and later discharged on some medications and injections. I kept going to the hospital on appointments. Different treatments kept occuring but sadly, there was no visible and positive improvement.

Since that time, I have been taken to different hospitals, within and outside Lagos State for treatments and lasting solution till date.

That was how the sickness started till it got to where it is today.

.Anemia (blood loss)

.Constant stomach ache (morning till night)
.Weight loss (75kg before the sickness - 62kg presently)
