What is a hipster?

What makes a hipster
Hipsters are predominantly young people from the urban middle class between the ages of 20 and 30. Quite a few bands and trends only became known to the masses after hipsters discovered them.

Hipster style far removed from the social ideal
The basic idea of ​​hipster fashion is to stand out from the mainstream with extravagant and scene-conscious clothing. The hipster style and the external appearance are characterized by rather unusual hairstyles, such as undercuts and sidecuts, as well as a combination of old-fashioned clothing and a clothing style that predominantly prevails in the subculture of hardcore punks. Hipster fashion also expresses a penchant for vintage and second-hand clothing, which is often combined with expensive brand labels. For women, high-waist jeans or leggings can also be considered hipster fashion. In order to stand out from the mainstream, hipster fashion often wears items that don't actually belong together. T-shirts with provocative and eye-catching slogans and inscriptions are also popular. Hipster style often includes piercings and tattoos. A full beard or 3-day beard is mandatory for men. Carrying Apple tablets and smartphones is also part of the hipster style. Backpacks and bags are considered must-haves. Hipsters have a passion for indie music. They often hear songs from bands that most people don't know. What the mustache is for vintage representatives and the peace sign for hippies, the equilateral triangle is for hipsters. While for many it is just a sign of recognition, the three sides of the triangle are intended to symbolize freedom, music and love for other representatives of the scene. It is now also a popular tattoo motif.
