On the cusp of every political evolution in Nigeria, there is often a trafficking of recriminations — ‘’The north is scheming to dominate the south, and the south is angling to outwit the north’’. Syrupy conjectures and time-tested misconceptions. Crisis merchandisers are at their best stoking the tension as conspiracy theories of Islamisation surge in the public grid.
We will always have conspiracy theories and crisis merchandisers – for as long as unity and mutual trust remain elusive.
Bola Tinubu, APC presidential candidate, has set off a tinderbox of reactions by his choice of running mate — Kashim Shettima, former governor of Borno. Ordinarily, there should be no hue and cry over his decision. He is at liberty to decide who to walk and work with. But Nigeria has been diametrically sundered by years of attrition, hate-bartering and exhausting recriminations. Undoubtedly, the psychological mutilations from these years of anger will shape up to be the frustrations of the next administration.
Should Tinubu relinquish his right to choose a running mate he believes is loyal, competent and can help him win the presidential election so as to pacify those threatening Armageddon? I do not think it will be fair to relieve him of carte blanche in this regard. He is only a presidential candidate, and not yet the president. If he becomes the president in 2023, then it becomes a bounden and inescapable obligation for him to abide, through and through, by the constitutional stipulations of federal character.
I black out when conversations oscillate around religion and ethnicity. I think the issues we should be interrogating at this time are: Security; Economy; Education; Healthcare; Infrastructure. I would rather assess the presidential hopefuls by their blueprint on these fundamentals which directly affect me than flagellate over religion.
I believe Tinubu has his work cut out for him. He should reach out to the Christian community, their leaders and groups with tactile assurances, and that if he becomes president, he will build a country where all Nigerians can exist under justice, equity, peace and harmony and where no one will be excluded on the basis of religion or ethnicity.
He should going forward begin to show prospects of inclusion and of sensitivity to diversity in his disposition, plans and policy paradigms. It is important that he shows there will be no perpetuation of the current administration’s exclusivist proclivities which deepen national strife and insecurity.
Let me synopsise my thoughts with this poignant paragraph from ‘The Broken Truths; Nigeria’s Quest for National Cohesion’ – a book by Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah. He wrote ever so candidly: ‘’God created us for a purpose and meaning in life. He is the Lord of History and time. However, for us Nigerians, God has become the greatest excuse for the inefficiency, corruption, and shameful degrading life of our people today. We are over 90% percent Christians and Muslims in Nigeria, but there is nowhere in the world where religion has become an incubus, a burden, and a source of dreadful violence as it has in Nigeria. Our leaders are constantly kneeling before pastors and imams seeking blessings while the rest of the world is moving on, drawing inspiration from sweat, brains and brawn without evoking God. We, on the other hand, evoke God to witness to our corruption and outright larceny.

This is what we should be discussing but those who have no track record to run on keep distracting us with religion and ethnicity bullshit. One thing is clear though, Peter Obi cannot lie his way to Aso Rock.

Forget this bullshit. To the average Muslim, it is religion first before humanity. The case in Nigeria especially with the military and civilian regimes of President Buhari is glaring that there are grand plans to islamize Nigeria.

Imagine the gross disproportionate in the composition of his govt and the disastrous consequences it turned out to be. Look as the senseless killings jihadists have subjected the country to without any concrete action to disprove this alarming fact.

Infact, Buhari and most top officials of his government overtly and covertly rationalise the atrocities of these rampaging islamic terrorists especially in Christain dominated areas. So what evidence does a sane person needs to be convinced that there is no plans to islamize this nation?

Take am

On the morning of December 25th, 2011, as worshippers gathered for Christmas prayers inside St Theresa Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State, a bomb exploded killing 37 worshippers. Nigerians were horrified.
"Who could have done this?" was the question on everyone's lips. Goodluck Jonathan, the go-to culprit for everything wrong with Nigeria was not only blamed but cursed generously. He managed a vow to bring the culprit/s to justice.

In no time, the man in the picture below, Kabiru Umar Abubakar Dikko, AKA Kabiru Sokoto was identified as the mastermind of the horrendous bombing. Security agents under strict instructions from President Jonathan went crazy looking for him and his Boko Haram cell in Abaji was discovered. But despite infiltrating the cell, the terrorist was no where to be found. Intel would later lead to the Asokoro lodge of Kashim Shettima, then the governor of Borno state and lo and behold that was where the murderer was found and arrested. Under interrogation, he revealed more info and was taken for a search of his premises at Abaji under the command of Policeman Zakari Biu.

Now Biu is an interesting character who alongside the likes of Hamza Mustapha, Sgt. Rogas and Paul Okuntimo did Abacha's sordid jobs. It was he who slapped the journalist, Chris Ayanwu almost blinding her in one eye for publishing an "embarrassing story" about Abacha. Ms. Ayanwu would later drag him to the Oputa Panel where he showed absolutely no remorse but instead laughed it off, even cracking jokes! Rev. Father Kukah and Justice Oputa would, in an obscene gesture that seemed like a profane appropriation of divine will ask Anyawu to "forgive and forget," hug the man and "let bygones be bygones," a stunt Wole Soyinka would capture in a scathing article on Tell magazine. But the unforgiving Olusegun Obasanjo, like he did to all the lunatics of the Abacha era would retire the policeman immediately. How Zakari Biu sneaked back into the NPF under President Yar'Adua remained unnoticed until he was implicated in the escape of Kabiru Sokoto.

Just hours after Kaburi Sokoto was taken for a search his home in Abaji under the command of Biu news came that the terrorist had escaped custody on their way to Abaji. A livid Jonathan quickly got Zakari Biu and everyone involved arrested and ordered for Sokoto to be produced by whatever means. Another set of state security agents would later track him to Biu village where after a heavy shootout between his men and security agents, he was arrested and under tight security transported to Abuja and charged to court. On December 21, 2013 he was handed a life sentence by a judge who remarked that the terrorist showed zero remorse for the murders he committed.

Why was Kabiru Sokoto hiding in the Borno State Governor's Lodge, Asokoro?

Why was Kashim Shettima vehemently opposed to the security directives issued by President Jonathan with respect to the Boko Haram crisis such that it culminated in the Chibok tragedy, and even after Jonathan lost in 2015, he was still so bitter about the former president's handling of the terror group that during his swearing in as a 2nd term governor of Bornu state on May 29, 2015, he said Jonathan's was a "hostile Federal Government..which also saw the insurgency from the most perverted, narrow and irresponsible prism.."?

Why was Shettima insistent on amnesty for Boko Haram even 3 yrs after the presiding judge in the Kabiru Sokoto case clearly said Sokoto did not show any remorse in the course of his trial?

We will keep retelling these stories for the benefit of those who are unfamiliar with our immediate history, even if only to serve as sign posts on their walk towards the next polls, and to those who have mischievously chosen to forget, so that by tomorrow when posterity sees the Nigeria our generation bequeathed to them, they will know where we each stood when it mattered and in the words of Pius Adesanmi, that "not all of us choose to be slaves."

So only northern Muslims are qualified and competent enough to deliver in the key policies of govt. Have you seen the disproportionate cut off marks in unity schools in a country where we are talking about competence?

What competence and expertise will a well known BH kingpin and supporter of Kashim Shettima kind bring to a national govt in a country already polaried by religious acrimony? Someone caught hiding a wanted BH terrorists in govt guest house? Remember the ignoble role this same man played in the alleged Chibok school girls kidnap?

Ali modu Sheriff said! Between himself and Shettima, one of them started Boko Haram and if it is Shettima, what does the future hold with the founder of Boko Haram as our country’s Vice President? I leave that question to the consciences of all terror stricken Nigerians to answer at the ballot!

With all his past dirty and dangerous antecedents even among all the Muslims in Nigeria, Muslim Shettima is the one Muslim Tinubu decided to insult and threaten Nigerians in general and Christians in particular with.

Why not someone like Boss Mustapha who is already doing well and still in govt? Meanwhile, here is the scorecard of the bigoted, clannishish & ethno-religious supremacist govt Buhari ran while supported by Tinubu.

Helinues created a thread, asking that folks asses Tinubu's running mate and Pandora, as former governors. With the noise these guys make online, you would expect they'd bombard us with Pandora's achievement's, especially in terms of infrastructure. Alas, that was not to be. They derailed the thread from page 1 with insults!!

They have nothing to sell based on his past.
