This one na easy judgment, that option of 50 million fine is like telling a bank robber, you can go free just pay the court 25% of the loot grin grin grin

Not even up to 5%.
He stole 350 million in 2015 Naira.(see below)
Someone must be collecting serious bribe in EFCC.
They always have this type of judgements. And the media enables them in it by not putting the fine option in the headline

[Useless court.
After 5 good years on one case. If they had jailed him since 2016, he would have finished serving by now.

Person stole 435m naira, you gave him option of paying 50m naira or 10 years in prison. Our judicial system is total rubbish

The judge must be very stupid. Someone stole 430million and you sentenced him to 10years with the option of 50million as fine. It is finished with our Judiciary system undecided

Instead of shinning teeth, we ought be outraged. There should be a public outcry. EFCC always comes up with these types of ridiculous judgments. Obviously arranged with the judge and the guy's lawyer, after collecting serious bribe and all parties paid off. Then the press will enable it by blasting headline with the fake judgment.

Imagine 50 million fine for 1 billion theft (in today's naira)

I like the way Nigeria courts are now functioning right now. Baba Ijesha got 16 years, now this one. The kleptomaniacs in Nigerian government must chop parts of breakfast that Nigerians courts are serving now. We need independence of judiciary in this country.

This news no too clear!...

It is very simple. The man will pay 50 million for stealing 1 billion in today's naira.
That's what 10 years with option of 50 million naira fine means. It means he won't spend a day in jail - like all yahoo boys arrested by EFCC, they always get something like 1000 years with option of 5k fine!

Somebody stole N434.1m and the option for jail time is a N50m fine. He is still in profit!
Their is no profit sir all the money in his account will be taken by FG, his accounts will be frozen and he will serve a jail term of 10yrs Including the fine on him if his family can't pay the 50m fine it will be added to his jail term maybe like additional 2yrs if he can't pay the fine, that's why it is good to condemn fraud because whatever earned from the fraud i.e houses, cars, companies will be shotdown and will be converted to FG property once convicted.

Fraud will become a norm under BAT, if in doubt ask how they've tackled it in Lagos.
