Women have been making waves in their chosen fields over the years. They have made names for themselves and also inspired others to strive for excellence. NRTC takes a look at seven of these notable women from Kogi State.

Prof. Marietu Tenuche
Born on September 29, 1959, Tenuche is the first female Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University. From being a lecturer, she rose to the position of a professor of Political Science in 2011. She is married to a pharmacist, Professor Muhammed Tenuche. They are blessed with four children.

Mercy Johnson-Okojie
Mercy Johnson was born on August 28, 1984. She has won multiple awards over the years for her sterling performances on the screen. She is not just an actress, she is a wife, mother, and philanthropist.
Among the films she has acted in include The Maid, Hustlers, and Baby Oku in America. In 2009, she won an award for Best Supporting Actress at the 2009 African Movie Award ceremony for her role in “Live to Remember”.

In 2013, she won Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for her role in “Dumebi the Dirty Girl”. She was listed as Google’s most searched Nigerian celebrity in December 2012.

Oyiza Adaba
Adaba is a celebrated media personality and journo with about three decades of practice. She is a graduate of Theatre Arts and Media from the University of Jos. Her career trajectory includes working in Multichoice, DSTV, and Africa Independent Television.

Hassana and Husiena Edili Ogaji
They are the first female twin pilots from Nigeria. The Canadian-based pilots are from Igala, Kogi State.

They have both worked with different aviation companies, flight dispatchers, maintenance engineers and others to successfully achieve a safe and effective aviation industry. Also, they have about ten years experience in their chosen field.
