One thing that comes to my mind is whether the case is now status bared or not. Can be checked. If enough uproar is created in the American space, yes, it may trigger a review. All it takes is for a US district attorney to decide that justice may not seem to have been done in the matter. There are other legal grounds, though.

Americans are emotional animals unlike the den of criminals Nigeria is.
