You want crime rate to increase? What other option do you have in place for those you will be taking food from them?

Does this useless government ever care about her citizens? They can't provide jobs, now they want to take jobs away from the people providing them themselves SMH.

Clueless federal government as usual. Before you place such ban, provide an alternative. The government wants to solve a problem by creating another problem.

Do they even know the millions of people that will be out of jobs following a nationwide okada ban?

Do them dimwits care?

The Spur For Mass Transit Policy Thrust

If this will spur the governments of the 3 tiers to adopt a policy thrust on mass transit across the country, then it's welcome. After all, Okada is not a standard and safe mode of transportation. I know many backward-thinking, pre-modern, set-in-their ways mortals will not support it. Of course, the government should think it through and provide mass transit in its stead.

It's only babies in rashes-causing diapers that want change. It's never easy for people who are comfortable in their ways to adjust to change suddenly.

I don't like mass transit! I am not a ram to be in the same transport with a lot of people! Stop pushing your socialist nonsense down our throats!

Other areas are affected by armed robbery and kidnappings. These elements majorly used motorcycles as a good get away instrument. Very effective, can pass through almost any terrain. Can be carried over an obstacle by the rider, very fuel efficient as a full tank can ride for hours and very cheap to acquire compared to other means of transport. A 3 years ban can be adopted to test the first phase of the policy.

Banning okada isn't part of the solution. Banning okada shows that the govt is clueless and using okada as a scapegoat. After banning okada, will that ban or eliminate the kidnappers? The govt should be talking of ways of killing or capturing kidnappers. How can terrorists kidnap people with over 30 okadas and no police, no DSS to arrest them or track them down?
Re: FG Considers Banning Okada Across The Country by kokomilala(m): 6:48pm On Jul 21, 2022
@yemi1504, all first world, top of the world countries have integrated mass transit system. India, China, Korea, Russia, Singapore- all organized societies- have mass transit to move hordes of people from one point to another. Interestingly, most of these countries, save for Russia and China are advanced capitalist systems. In fact, the two run communist political systems but rely on the capitalist economic system to thrive.

What's socialist about mass transit? Are you thinking backwards or you're simply out of sorts mentally? How would a country like India move its people- millions of them from one station to another; from Mumbai to Delhi etc? And how would Chinese- in their tens of millions- commit from Beijing to Shanghai? You should have thought out this before coming on NL to spew such insipid nonsense.

They should pass the law for gun ownership first. Then buhari can gift his abgado and almajiries boys the okada ban as his parting gift, cos they will turn to crime full time after the ban.

You are right. But, do you know that, nigeria is an under police country? As a matter of fact, the north is extremely under police. Due to the land mass. No police officer want to risk his life. Where the kidnappers are using more sophisticated weapons e.g RPG......
Even here in Lagos, we are still under police
Re: FG Considers Banning Okada Across The Country by ekenetheorg(m): 7:03pm On Jul 21, 2022
Banning bike across the country will be the most insensitive step. In some parts of the North where terrorists use bikes in droves, it might make sense to ban the bikes. In the South where they constitute nuisance in the cities, it might also make sense to ban bikes. But then, there are rural areas without access road. They use bike to manage their situations. FG should make sure there are access roads to every village in Nigeria first before nuturing such plans as banning bike across the country. Last time I checked, they slapped a heavy tariff on imported used cars such that the poor man may never drive again with his minimum wage salary. Clearly, if this policy sees any light, then e go clear for my eye say there was a country

You are saying two different things at the same time...lack of weapons and too much work for the police. Nigeria isn't under policed. If you say Nigeria is under policed, During elections, where do all the policemen they use come out from? Nigeria has grossly underutilized security agencies. the country is paying salaries to people it isn't using.

The personnel in our security agencies are very idle, very unprofessional, indisciplined and feel like they are gods when among civilians. I witnessed a group naval guys on patrol today, about 10 of them, arresting just 1 guy for plaiting his hair. Folks like this should be used to chase after bandits if they have nothing to do.
