The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently released figures, have the South South geopolitical zone leading the completed registration in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise. The exercise by INEC which is aimed at adding new voters to the existing voters record was kickstarted on the 28th of June, 2021 across the country, and it is scheduled to end on the 31st of July, 2022. The figures released by INEC as at 7am on Monday, 25th day of July, 2022 indicate that South South has the highest number of newly registered voters in the country with a whooping total of 2, 255, 070 completed registrations, and it is closely followed by the North West, which has so far recorded 2,197,607 completed registrations. The North Central which includes the Federal Capital Territory came third with 2, 082, 156 completed registrations while the South West occupied the fourth position with 1, 841, 602 completed registrations. The North East and the South East are in the 5th and 6th positions respectively.
