Says new electoral act hunting those who passed it

By Steve Oko

The Prelate of the Methodist Church, His Eminence, Dr Samuel Uche, has advised candidates seeking election in 2023, to stop unwarranted attacks against their opponents, and rather concentrate on educating Nigerians on how they intend to move the country forward if elected into office.

Bishop Uche who gave the counsel in a press conference in Umuahia, frowned at the attitude of some presidential candidates who he regretted, had been attacking another candidate instead of marketing their own programmes.

The cleric said that campaign of calumny was capable of plunging the country into avoidable upheaval, and advised politicians against setting the country ablaze.

” Let’s stop violence. Candidates should tell us what they will do for us. Campaign does not call for character assassination.

” I love one of them. If they tell him he doesn’t have structure, he will say yes. Ifhe will say yes. If they insult him, he will not talk back.

” He doesn’t malign others. If they say he has no followership he will say yes. He has never abused anyone.

” But my joy is that if you trace this young man from East to West, North to South, everybody is clamouring for him”.

The Prelate expressed confidence in the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct a credible poll in 2023.

He said that the success and transparency of the just-concluded Osun governorship election, had boosted the confidence of Nigerians on the electoral umpire.

” I listened to the INEC Chairman when he said nobody can rig and 2023 election and I believe him. I also have confidence in the INEC Spokesman, Festus Okoye.

” They are men of integrity. The success of Osun election has shown that the New Electoral Act can work.

” It’s like those who passed the New Electoral Act are now regretting it because it is even working against them. They have realised that it does not allow for messing up. It has eradicated rigging.”

Some people need to tell us what they will do.
We see what some others have done.

We are not blind, we are witnesses to what Tinubu has done. Ibos can testify to the fact Tinubu is their benefactor.

Obi and Atiku have nothing to show, they need to talk and we are listening.

What has Obi and Atiku done that can be modeled for Nigerian progress?

grin
Kai, shege go happen for next year.

If you have old people around you , go to them tomorrow afternoon greet them and bend down . Now tell them to tell you what Tinubu did that benefited them when he was a governor. And shut up till they finish telling you .

Honestly speaking, it's sickening and nauseating to say the least. Personally I never imagined that I will be considering Obi's candidacy today, but as it stands, there is no option. How can a country with sound, healthy, learned and global icons be faced with a Tinubu and Atiku as Presidential candidates? Is that not the height of a failed country? From Tinubu's time as Governor to now, have you heard him say any coherent, thought provoking and articulate word? They keep hyping him with their Lagos - Ibadan media as the next thing after sliced bread, yet 99% of the so called achievements they credit to him were the achievements of Fashola and Ambode govts. Fashola was the bride of APC Lagos during 2014 campaigns around the country. Most people were impressed with his governance in Lagos, reasons Buhari gave him the powerful portfolios that nearly rubbished his reputation. Tinubu has never been the architect of any development, it has been people doing it and he turns to take the glory. Just imagine, he has set up a 40 man committee to write manifesto for him, just imagine the rubbish. So he was busy shouting Emi lokan up and down without any blueprint for the office he calls his lifetime ambition? How gullible and docile can a country be. This was how PMB contested for 12yrs to be the President and ended up being a desaster of mighty proportion. Honestly only fools will vote Tinubu. Atiku Abubaka on the other hand is another version of PMB. All he is after is the Presidency, nothing else. Both men are badnews. Just imagine both men insulting each other and accusing each other of their evil motives in 2007.No issue based campaign, just banters and rubbish talks while the Nation is angling to hear what they stand to offer. PMB really lowered the office of the Presidency. Nigeria is degenerating with the speed of light.
I just pray the citizens of Nigeria come together and chase these hyenas back to the Bush and reclaim their country and common wealth through the ballot and a more decent and promising candidate.
Nigeria will be better and great in our lifetime.
