Like In Osun, Only Acceptable, Capable Candidate Will Win In Abia, Says Group by Nwokomaizuchi: 10:22pm On Aug 02, 2022
The recent electoral victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke in Osun State where the will of the people determined the winner, will be repeated in Abia State in 2023.

This is even as the group has maintained that the dwindling federal allocations has made it imperative for election of a Governor with in-depth understanding of entrepreneurial potentials, to drive Abia State to economic transformation.

These assertions were made by Abia Good Governance Forum (AGGF) in Umuahia after a one- day meeting of the group, held to brainstorm on the present situation of Abia State and the need to enthrone only credible and capable leaders.

The communique of the group was signed by Hon Harrison Chigozie on behalf of other members, made it clear that only a prepared and capable candidate should get the support of Abia electorate.

AGGF during the meeting, charged Abians to only go for a candidate that could create jobs for teeming unemployed youths, noting that it would consult with stakeholders to ensure the realization of the good governance agenda in Abia.

" Considering the most recent election held at Osun State, it was observed with kin interests that power belongs to the people and not selected few who selfishly enjoyed the common wealth of the State."

"The ambitious goals of the 2023 agenda is to unseat the non-performing government and institute a government that will for the development of Abia State will require significant resources and co-operation amongst well-meaning Abians to implement them" the group said, adding the the willingness of the people to achieve these have expanded.

The group said it has embarked on State-wide sensitization of Abia electorate in this direction, to ensure that no corrupt or inept leader is elected the next leader of Abia but only people oriented leader with the capacity to transform the State.

The group also called for a parallel debate among all candidates in the State for people to access their stewardship on issues regarding to corruption, nepotism, transparency and plans for the youths.

The meeting which was attended by 120 participants drawn from civil society organizations, students, community members and media organisations was used to hammer on the need to enthrone good governance in Abia State, away from the present situation.
