Wealth is not without advantages, and the case to the contrary, while frequently made, has never been widely persuasive.
Before I explain how real estate can help you achieve your goals, it's important to understand what I mean by wealth. I don't use the term "wealth" as an adjective to describe someone's net worth (millionaire or billionaire). When your passive income exceeds your expenses, you have wealth. To put it another way, someone is wealthy if their assets or investments generate enough income to cover all of their living expenses. The interest that is credited to your bank account each month, for example, is not the result of any work (in the traditional sense) by the account holder. Every month, regardless of how small the interest payment is, it is deposited into your account. Although you did not "work" for it, it is your money. This is what it means to put your money to work for you. If your monthly living expenses were N2,000,000 and the interest on your savings account was also N2,000,000 per month, you would be wealthy. You have achieved financial independence by not having to rely on a job to cover your expenses.

The majority of people do not have enough money saved to earn the necessary interest to cover their living expenses. So, how do you generate a large enough passive income to allow you this financial freedom? You must acquire assets that generate enough income to cover your living expenses. An asset is anything you own that generates cash; a liability, on the other hand, is anything you own that consumes cash. A new car with a new monthly payment, for example, would be a liability because it takes money out of your pocket each month to own it. An asset is a property that you rent for more than its mortgage payment and expenses.
Instead of costing you money to own, it generates income. This is just one of many ways that real estate can help you build wealth.
Wealth is simply another word for power. You are wealthy if you can wake up every day and do nothing while your assets generate enough money to cover your expenses. You are wealthy when you have control over your own life when you decide what you do on a daily basis, whether it is soaking up the sun and sand in exotic locations, staying at home to raise your children, or having time to pursue your own interests and hobbies. Wealth is defined as having the time and money to do whatever you want, whenever you want.
