TOP 10 BRAND NEW and ONGOING AIRPORT PROJECTS IN NIGERIA In the year 2000, Nigeria had about 23 public airports located in 22 states and the FCT leaving about 14 states without any. Many of these airports were developed by various head of states during the Nigerian military era. On the return of democracy in 1999. The federal government had completely shifted focus on building airports at least one in every state of the federation. This move has pushed many left out states who were not privilege to have hosted airport projects during the military era to independently develop their own public airports without the assistance of the federal government. Ebonyi state international Airport The Ebonyi state international Airport is an Airport project undertaken by the administration of Engr. Dave Umahi in Ebonyi state. It is expected to be completed later this year. Ebonyi state government is collaborating with Ethiopian Airlines for direct international flight into Ebonyi which will improve tourism and businesses. the project features a police station , a presidential lodge, an airport road and a fly over bridge. The airport apron is being constructed with 1ft concrete pavement which guarantees the airport to last for more than 50 years. It runway is 3.4km in length and is also constructed with concrete.

Anambra International Cargo airport The Anambra international Cargo airport is a recently completed airport project situated in umueri , Anambra state.. it also features a 3.7km runway which makes it 2nd longest in Nigeria after the The airport project was funded under a build, operate, manage and transfer agreement A 75 percent equity stake was granted to Elite International Investments, which funded majority of the project, 20 percent to Orient Petroleum Resources Limited and 5 percent to the State Government.

Bayelsa International airport The Bayelsa international airport is a new airport facility in yenogoa the Bayelsa state capital…the project was initiated and completed under the administration of Serakie Dickson but remained idle for over 2 years. Ibom Air and United Nigeria airlines have both commenced flight to and from the airport. Still the airport remains one of the least patronized in Nigeria

The airport is strategically located in the centre of the state where there are two very important highways..on the western side, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and on the southern side, you have the Sagamu–Benin Expressway. Despite the presence of an existing, functional and under utilized airport within the state capital the Magret Ekpo international Airport A notable feature of the airport is it runway length…the Obudu airport project features a 5.6km runway length.. this length completely dawfs the lagos airport runway length which is about 3.9km..and the current title holder of the longest airport runway in the entire world china’s Qamdo bamda airport with a runway length of 5.5km. The summary of all these is that if the obudu airport project is successful completed .It will host the longest runway in the entire world with a length of 5.6km..

Ekiti airport The project began it construction in 2019 and is schedule for completion in 2022. It features a 3.2km runway which is enough to accommodate all sizes of passenger and cargo aircrafts.. The project is sponsored by the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi And he has promised to deliver the project before the expiration of his tenure.

Yobe international cargo airport This airport embarked upon in 2017 cost the state government atleast N18 billion.. the airport is a flagship project of Governor Buni’s administration.. The project is in it final phase of completion. The airport will be used for mostly agricultural cargo services and for passenger transport.

All dis waste of resources airport that won't get a plane aside political class usage, airports that can't even be compared to bus terminals in lagos Ekiti too is wasting money when ado to akure is not more than 45mins drive to the ideal airport in akure.....when ppl from lekki ajah spend over 2 hours sometimes to get to MMIA in ikeja |
