Minister of States for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) has tried to ensure the prices of food items do not go beyond what it is now. The legal practitioner said Buhari and the APC must not be judged by the sharp increase in prices of food and other commodities. Keyamo insisted that it would be a lazy way to campaign if the opposition parties tried to judge the APC government by comparing the prices of food items in 2022 and what they used to be seven years ago when the APC took over. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Keyamo maintained that those in opposition were deceiving the younger ones by laying emphasis on the hike in food prices. According to him, Nigerians have to take into consideration what is happening to the economy globally, saying the Federal Government has tried to keep the prices of food at what they are today. While clarifying that he did not mean the prices of food items do not matter, Keyamo maintained that the cost of items could have been worse if not for the efforts of the APC government. “It is a lazy way to campaign by saying what is the price of tomato then, what is the price of tomato today. Prices have never been stable. So they (the opposition) should not deceive the younger ones. We are going to expose them soon. “It is a lazy way to campaign using the price of tomato and rice. We are going to have a debate, we will put the global macroeconomics on a scale and put Nigeria on that scale as where Nigeria is. It is a lazy way to campaign. “I am not saying the prices of tomato and rice do not matter. But I am saying it is a lazy way to campaign. It could have been worse. You cannot take Nigeria out of the global context. Nigeria is not in isolation,” he said. Source: https://dailypost.ng/Cost-of-rice-tomato-could-have-been-worse-if-not-for-Buhari-Keyamo

this nation is a mess already...the politicians should tell us how they intend to reduce the prices when elected...always stating the problems without practical realistic solution... no more road, water, electricity...it's now tomatoes and rice...it's a shame....na so civilized society dey campaign...ALL POLITICIANS ARE FAILURES, DECEITFUL AND CLUELESS... THIS IS HOW THE NEW GOVERNMENT WILL COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PREVIOUS GOVERNMENT FOR THE NEXT EIGHT YEARS... for NIGERIA to work all politicians.... president, governors, house of rep..Senate..state house of assembly members must work towards one good course free of corruption. . the way Nigeria is now.. politics should not be a profitable venture...but a venture of service where the money of the leader will even go into making Nigeria better...not borrowing money to pay politicians fat salaries and take good care of politicians... NIGERIA IS A TOTAL MESS 1 Like |

Even if we can't produce much needed rice as a country, what is our excuse with Tomatoes that we used to be second largest producer after Egypt Isn't Meyetti Allah now feeling the price hike and Insecurity Northerner farmers have now turned bandits and Okada riders since farms get destroyed Anyways the sooner people embrace sack farming and start growing vegetables the better Sand bags ₦50 , sand is free, seeds are next to free, you don't even need water to wet everytime.. it grows on its own while you are online bombing and you have yourself your Agbado, Yam , Ugwu leave, even bitterleaf, even Osogbo Weed sef go grow and the tutorials are even free on YouTube .

'If'... It could then also be argued that 'if' pmb had not emerged, it would have not been this bad... However, the REALITY is that Nigeria & majority of Nigerians are worse off today than pre-PMB's administration... that's a fact. |
