A South East Pro - Democracy group has rallied Anambra Central constituents to reject the Senate aspiration of a former leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Party (APGA), Victor Umeh in the 2023 Senatorial elections in the State.

Umeh, now a candidate of the Labour Party after leaving his former party APGA after failing to clinch the party's ticket during primaries has been condemned by individuals and numerous groups, many of whom have described Umeh as insincere and deceptive.

The group under the auspices of the "South-East Allied Frontiers for Good Governance" asked all the eligible voters in the state to ignore Umeh and proceed to vote for other candidates according to their conscience.

It is described as “utmost disrespectful for Umeh to still consider running for public office under the Labour Party after his shambolic and corrupt ridden tenure as Chairman of APGA, which it said culminated to his failure to get the party's ticket after he was voted out and lost woefully.

Victor Umeh who once represented the zone in the 8th Assembly was accused of misleading Agulu indigenes by SAFGG. The group's public secretary, Comrade John Adiele Esq in a news briefing with newsmen in Awka on Monday also described Umeh's alliance with Peter Obi the Presidential Candidate of the LP as an insult to the intelligence of Anambrarians stressing that Umeh had severally times in recent times called Peter Obi unprintable names while also accusing him of being corrupt and a failed leader.

Further describing Umeh as a "hypocrite" John said that Umeh’s continued alliance with Peter Obi will ridicule the latter's Presidential bid , stating that Agulu people haven't forgotten how Umeh went against all odds to pull down Peter Obi when he was governor of the state. He added that Victor Umeh has become a bad influence on Peter Obi saying that both candidates now campaigning for one another abuse the intellect of Anambra voters and especially Agulu indigenes.

In his words ; " Why has Victor Umeh lost his self esteem and why does he hate Agulu people and what does he think he'll deceive them again?

"In 2007 Victor Umeh opposed Peter Obi's second term bid and refused to recognize him as APGA candidate until he forcefully extorted him a certain amount of money. Even with the plea of many prominent Agulu stakeholders you refused and opposed appointing anybody from Agulu as Anaocha LGA Chairman.

"We have not forgotten how he fought vehemently to make sure that Odenigbo did not win the APGA ticket and he still dumped APGA to become a bad influence on Peter Obi. Victor Umeh introduced Njideka Oraedum (who is Peter Obi's wife) in APGA and left her on the way to jump to the Labour Party and brought out Nkechi Ogbuefi.

"SAFGG notes that Umeh's major purpose is to create anarchy among these Agulu people, Peter Obi, Njideka Oraedum and Nkechi Ogbuefi so as to give Adazi people an advantage over Agulu because of his hatred.
"It is on record that Umeh superimposed Ikeobi Ejiofor on Anaocha LGA for more than six years so there won't be need to consider anybody from Agulu but when he lost out relevance and Ikeobi was dropped Umeh abandoned and discarded him.

According to John the people of Agulu are wiser in making their political decisions, declaring that the Agulu electorates will resist attempts by Umeh to taint Peter Obi who is globally renowned as an Icon of good governance.

John concluded "Agulu is wiser, We must vote for candidates with credible track records in public governance like Peter Obi. We must not vote for the Party this time around but credible candidates.
