The people of Erebe Ijebu in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State have raised alarm over life threatening tactics of certain land grabbers from Omu a neighboring community to Erebe. According to the Chairman, Erebe Community Development Association, Otunba Olugbenga Olukoya and Secretary, OLOJA ADEKOYA OFIRIGIDI ANIKINAIYA FAMILY, Erebe Ijebu, Omoba Sanya Adedapo and other elders of the town, a group of hoodlums numbering over thirty (30) sponsored by Mssrs Segun Lawal, Abayomi Adelaja, Razak Oladipupo and Rafiu Sanmori armed with cudgels, guns and other dangerous weapons invaded Erebe Ijebu on the 11th day of March, 2022 at about 9:00pm whereat they caused mayhem. As law abiding citizens, a save our soul petition dated 12/3/2022 was written to the Area Commander, Ijebu Police Division while the Community's Solicitor wrote another petition to the Inspector General of Police. Erebe community have refrained from making media publication on the matter pending conclusion of recent Police investigation, for reasons best known to these land grabbers via an online blogging platform "Grassroots Today" on Thursday 11th August, 2022 raised baseless false information concerning Erebe Ijebu amongst which was claim by one Segun Lawal to have been one "Olu Erebe" or "Baale".Ordinarily, it is not in Erebe Ijebu's leadership's stand to dignify this group of established land grabbers with response but this rebuttal becomes necessary to set the records straight for the general public.
1. The founding family and customary owners of Erebe Ijebu named after a former Of Oloja of Erebe Ijebu is the Oba Adekoya Ofirigidi Anikinaiya Family.
2. One Razak Oladipupo, Rafiu Sanmori and Segun Lawal all of Omu near Erebe Ijebu recruited services of one Alhaji Samsudeen Abayomi Adelaja, a chieftain of Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) who deals in land to sponsor a land litigation suit: HCJ/82/2009 against Oloja Adekoya Ofirigidi family, Erebe Ijebu.
3. Their case against OLOJA ADEKOYA OFIRIGIDI FAMILY Suit:HCJ/82/2009 wherein the land sponsorer's clients claimed to be members of one ALADE OGBE family of Omu was strucked out by the Ijebu Ode High Court in the year 2014.
4. Perhaps out of ignorance of the maxim "no one approbate and reprobate on the same matter” Abayomi Adelaja and his clients which real town is Omu with no connection whatsoever to Erebe Ijebu recently sued Oloja Adekoya Ofirigidi Anikinaiya Family, Erebe Ijebu with another name "Sangokoya" to forge a new connection.
5. It is bewildering that a letter dated 5th February, 2016 addressed thus;
THE OLORI EBI,
OLOJA ADEKOYA OFIRIGIDI ROYAL FAMILY, EREBE IJEBU
titled: invitation to OMU Eleni Day was signed by same Abayomi Adelaja as President Omu Area Central Development Council (OACDC).
6. Mindful that his above mentioned letter to Erebe Ijebu is an incontrovertible evidence, Abayomi Adelaja sometimes in the year 2018 abused authority of the Omu Police Division which pressed trumped up charge numbered MOD/46C/2018 against Erebe Community's representative, Omoba Olawunmi Samuel on a flimsy allegation of forgery of the above referred letter.
7. Senior Magistrate Idowu Olayinka in a well considered judgement on a no case submission discharged and acquitted the defendant. Through plethora of witnesses and documentary evidences the court established that OLOJA ADEKOYA OFIRIGIDI FAMILY is the family existing in reality while Abayomi Adelaja's dubiousness was noted.
8. Though vacant, title of the traditional ruler of Erebe Ijebu is the Oloja not Baale or Olu Erebe. Through communal efforts, a befitting modern edifice is been erected on the sacred Grove of the Oloja of Erebe not a health centre as the land grabbers claimed and are hereby challenged to present to the general public receipt which Oloja ADEKOYA OFIRIGIDI FAMILY issued handing over the ancestral "Oju Oshii" to anyone or group to erect structure over it.
9. Judgement in Suit:HCJ/82/2009, Oba Anikilaya Ruling House, Ijebu Ode's memo of 24/01/2007 and Association of Osugbo Ijebuland's judgement dated 04/09/2009 affirm Oloja Adekoya Ofirigidi family's ownership of Erebe Ijebu town.
10. It is appalling that in a nation where their is law, these land grabbers who have now metamorphosize from ALADE OGBE into SANGOKOYA without any court judgement or documentary record linking them to Erebe go about with impunity pretending to be representatives of Erebe Ijebu.
11. That these land grabbers enjoy the unflinching encouragement of their town's Oba is an open secret. How such a privileged office could stoop so low to repeatedly cause crisis over very straight land matters is a subject of concern as it was recently discovered during trial in Suit:HCJ/121/2015 that false information was presented by their Oba to Ogun State government in a bid to name one of his men (Segun Lawal) as Baale over Erebe Ijebu.
12. While appropriate measures had been taking to address these flagrant resort to fraud by these land grabbers and their collaborators, they are by this publication reminded of the fact that the first settlement and royal rights of Erebe Ijebu over Omu cannot be rubbished under whatever guise.
13. Knowing that these expert impersonators are fond of raising false information hiding under unfounded aegis hence, purport of informing the general public of their true identities and antics .
