Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez saw a red card in the second half of Monday's clash with Crystal Palace for a headbutt on Joachim Andersen after the two had tussled in the box just moments earlier.

After coming off the bench to score against Premier League defending champions Man City in Community Shield, and also against Fulham on the opening day, Nunez was rewarded with a staring shirt against Patrick Vieira side's on Monday.

Darwin Nunez Premier League debut at Anfield did not go as planned, as he was shown a straight red card for head-butting Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

A frustrating first half saw Liverpool concede before the break, after dominating for the entirety.

Liverpool needed to come out in the second half with a much more clinical edge, however, things went from bad to worse for The Reds in the 57th minute, as new signing Darwin Nunez had a moment of madness.

The Uruguayan reacted to Joachim Anderson pushing him in the back by headbutting the Crystal Palace defender.

The incident angered Jurgen Klopp and wasn't helped when the striker refused to come off quickly.
