It is that time of the year again when the United Bank for Africa (UBA) announces its annual graduate trainee program. This is a highly competitive process with only the top candidates being selected for the role. If you are hoping to be one of the successful applicants, then you will need to pass the aptitude test with flying colours.

In this article, we will provide you with some top tips on how to prepare for and pass the UBA aptitude test. But before we get into that, let's take a look at what the test entails.

How to Pass the 2022 UBA Graduate Trainee Aptitude Test

1. Get Your Study Strategies Right.

The first step to success is getting your study strategies in place. You need a plan and routine that you can stick to. This will help you stay focused and avoid last-minute cramming.

Study strategies differ from an individual. What works for Mr A might not be what works for you. If you are accustomed to preparing for tests within short notice,  an early preparation routine is advisable. This will help you avoid pressure and have enough time to go through all topics.

2 Get Familiar with the Test Format and Question Types

The best way to ace any test is by getting familiar with the format and question types. This will help you understand what is expected of you and how to approach the questions.

When it comes to the UBA Graduate Trainee Aptitude Test, you should be conversant with your Numerical and verbal reasoning tests.

You should take some time to understand the nature of each section and how it is going to be tested. Doing this will help you focus your attention on the areas that need more work.

3. Use Past Questions and Answers to Study

One of the most effective ways of preparing for any test is by using past questions and answers. They help you understand the pattern of the questions and how they are usually asked.

When it comes to the UBA Graduate Trainee Aptitude Test, past questions will help you manage your time correctly, give you an idea of what to expect on that day of the test, and most especially assist you in knowing the frequently asked questions.

4. Revisit Difficult Areas in Your Study Guide

No matter how hard you try, there are always going to be areas in the study guide that will be more difficult than others. When you get to these areas, take some time to understand the concepts clearly before moving on.

If you find that you are still struggling with the material, seek help from a friend or tutor. It is better to spend a little extra time on these difficult areas now than to struggle with them on test day.

5. Simulate the Test Environment as Much as Possible

One of the best ways to reduce test anxiety is by simulating the test environment as much as possible. This means taking practice tests under timed conditions and in a quiet place.

By doing this, you will get used to the feeling of being under pressure and be less likely to feel overwhelmed when taking the actual test.

 6. Follow all Invitation Instruction

If you are invited to participate in the UBA Graduate Trainee Aptitude Test, you should be watchful of Examination preparatory instruction on or before that day. This instruction will entail how to take the Computer-based test, the time and date of the test, and, most significantly, your login in detail to the portal. We advise all candidates to follow all instructions to avoid any mix-ups before or that day.

7. Manage Your Time Effectively

Many candidates from the previous UBA Graduate Trainee Aptitude Test have complained of the limited time given during the test. The goal of the UBA Graduate Trainee Aptitude Test is to access your speed within a short time. The test comprises 60 questions.

You are expected to spend 60 minutes answering all questions. This means you are to spend less than one minute on one question. Candidates aiming high on this test should manage their time during the test. It entails first attempting easy questions, spending less time on difficult questions, and trying to answer all questions.

8. Avoid all disturbances before and during the test.

This might not be easy to control. Distractions can occur before the test. Depending on the individual in this context, these distractions can be anxiety, fear, unfamiliar environment, noise, and even friends. Some of the ways by which we can control disturbance and effectively study before the test include:

Find a comfortable location that is free from noise and friends.
Get your writing materials already before starting to avoid frequently moving about.
Create a time for study and ensure that you follow it meticulously.
Remove all disturbances such as phones and gadgets.
