Nigerian Army Breaks Silence After 243 Soldiers Voluntarily Leave The Army by amzee(m): 4:02pm On Aug 20, 2022 |
The Nigerian Army, in a post on Facebook, has recently broken silence following the voluntary discharge of about 243 soldiers from the Armed Force. In the post that was shared on the official Facebook page of the Nigerian Army on Saturday, 20th August 2022, the Nigerian revealed that the voluntary retirement or discharge of soldiers is a routine in the Nigerian army. The Nigerian Army also pointed that there has been an allegation that soldiers of the Nigerian Army have been voluntarily retiring from the Armed Force because of alleged corruption, poor service conditions and low morale. While refuting this allegation, the Nigerian Army said that the allegation is nothing but a concoction of the imagination of the unrepentant enemies of the nation. Further in the post, the Nigerian Army explained that the Armed Force is not a conscript Army and that the recruitment of soldiers into the Force is voluntary with extant policy on discharge and retirement of soldiers. The Armed Force explained that this provides its personnel the opportunity to apply for voluntary discharge whenever they deem fit and meet the terms and conditions as described in the Harmonized Terms and Conditions of Service soldiers/ ratings/airmen (Revised) 2017. According to the post, the Nigerian Army explained that it is for this reason that the Chief of Army Staff, Faruk Yahaya, granted the approval for 91 NA/32/4792 Wo Ndagana Ishiaku and 242 others to voluntarily discharge from the Nigerian Army. What is your take on this subject matter brought about by the Nigerian Army, why do you think some soldiers are applying for voluntary discharge from the Nigerian Army and what do you think can be done to reduce this cases?
