The management of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti on Wednesday directed all newly-admitted students for 2021/2022 academic session to resume on Monday for screening, registration and orientation programme.

The order, despite the ongoing ASUU strike, followed the advisory by stakeholders in the institution to the management to reopen the university without further delay for continuation of academic activities.

EKSU Registrar, Ife Oluwole, announced the resumption in a statement in Ado Ekiti titled, ‘Resumption of academic and administrative activities in the university: University stakeholders’ resolutions.’

Oluwole stated that the stakeholders expressed worries that the industrial action was having negative effects not only on the students, but also on the university in areas including “undue prolongation of the academic calendar and the stay of the students on campus”

Well done to Ekiti state.

State universities formimg same union with Federal universities, is abnormal.
It's like ego boosting by association.
The state universities teachers boost their ego through association with Federal universities teachers.

Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians to ensure continuity of his regime by voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 presidential election.

“The forthcoming general elections will provide us with the opportunity to convince the electorate of the need for continuity to enable our party to consolidate on our achievements in the last 7 years,” Mr Buhari said.

The president, according to a statement by his spokesperson Femi Adesina on Friday, disclosed this while receiving a delegation from Nasarawa State.
“The Government and people of Nasarawa State, as usual, have a great role to play in returning our party to governance in the 2023 elections, in order to create a path for greater socio-economic growth and development.

“This is not only important for Nigeria alone but also for the West African Sub-Region,” the president was further quoted as saying.

I really wonder how we plan to develop. This has clearly shown that our educational institutions play no role in our drive for a better country.

Those money used to build railway that has been taken over by the bandits could have helped reposition our institutions as a resource center to champion our development as a nation.

It's not just enough to want to have good roads, railway, flyovers etc. You should first educate your people and in return they will have the required skill set to build and maintain these infrastructure internally. That's how civilization is sustained.

We didn't learn anything from the Ajaokuta steel and the refineries we have kept burning cash on in the name of Turnaround maintenance

ASUU's demands are legitimate. How can you admit students with cut off mark of 130 in the university. Lowering the cut off marks for dullards. It's really appalling. My question is that has English grammar and mathematics changed since when some people were forced to score between 240- 300 to gain admissions into the universities?

What English are they speaking differently to make them score 120 in jamb.

The amount ASUU is demanding for will still be spent by the same FG. It's quite unfortunate that those that can buy a mere party paper called nomination forms totalling over 3billion across all party lines do not want to do anything about education. They keep building new federal universities without proper infrastructure and funding. Most of the state governors just wants the university as part of the national cake or share of the national largess shared and will interprete it to their citizens as investments they help bring to the state.

Paris fund refund .............Zooom
Excess crude oil money... Zooom
Allocation........................... Zooom

Well.. it is well. If ASUU allows this to go now unchecked , then the end of sound education is near. The ones shouting now are the few remaining lecturers. Then expect brain drain.

I. T guys are leaving in drooves
Medical professionals are also leaving
Academias are also involved.
No young man wants to lecture , even if they want to do , majority are borne out of no alternative but just due to lack of work.

Let's see if SSANU and NASU will do the lecturing , even the parents and students complaining will look back and say haba.... E no follow at all. Other implications is that good foreign universities will deny Nigerian university graduates opportunity and there may be implications on the global ranking if universities.

Anybody that attended a proper first generation federal universities will understand and acknowledge the ruins of what a proper university should be and sadly, these are the places where most if the crop of present leaders schooled.

How will a PROF be earning less than 500k?
Plus the schools are in deplorable states.

Who is a prof.is not by force to lecture,FG are lenient,I swear by now open a portal for recruitment for Graduate lecturers, after all they will be profs one day,we can't allow this selfish people hold us to ransom, yes they are making sense but as Govt shift ground, make dem too.

If this stike is for all government employee children to be schooling here I go say make sense,.

Wish government will grant them their wishes but with a clause,No lecturer can lecture in more than one University, yes pay them well cos iv never seen a civil servant working and earning in two ministries.
We cant allow some selfish old men hold future of our kids to ransom with many of them with kids outside the country.

I'll use Professor Ogbuefi a lecturer here in UNEC,also lecturing in more than six universities, with all his kids outside the country,he foolishly on strike with the rest while we hail them and now on vaccation in the US as we all are deceived.

May God help us.

I don't understand how some students are still supporting ASUU especially now that it's obvious there are the one stalling their future. All your demands cannot be attended to because this bad government obviously aren't prioritising education so why make the poor students suffer for it.

ASUU is selfish.
They should be proscribed already.
Imagine the number of students life they wasting for their selfishness.

You can't win all battles
Once there's a compromise you should sheeth your swords.

They have made their point and the whole world know who's to be blamed.

He who fight and retreat lives to fight another day.

So they should call off strike and professors earn 400k while Ahmed who is a mere spacial adviser earn 1million monthly? Later you go complain say them nor dey teach or them they collect bribe. How do you expect someone who earn less than 250k to be effective. In developed countries lecturers and teachers earn second highest to Doctors. All the intelligent lecturers have Japa na only dummy remain

So your point is? Sheath their sword and strike another day? Do you think we can afford anymore strikes? FG should settle everything already....most of these lecturers are on mega loans in the bank since the last 6 months, how do you think they have been feeding their families? if you don't pay them salaries for the previous months, how are they supposed to move on? Rob banks? FG is not even serious cuz it's impossible, totally impossible for them to forfeit six months salary, cuz it's equal to working for free if school resumes.

How do we move forward as a Nation when things that concerns the youth are been taken for granted, For God sake if these old people did not experience education what would have become of them now. Just imagine what the future will look like without Education, I just pity their own children if they think they will get it easy like their fathers, those people their fathers refused to give education will rise to show them what it means not to be educated.

If FG had adjusted the salaries and wages to capture and reflect the present-day economic realities of hyperinflation & currency devaluation, I bet you the lecturers will not have gone on strike. All these corruption u see in high and low places especially in civil, public service, government would not b commonplace.
