The Customs Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone B Comptroller, A.B. Hamisu psc(+) has thanked patriotic Nigerians that made his zone make seizures with duty paid value worth over 229 million Naira within the month of August.



Comptroller Hamisu expressed this, while briefing press on Thursday August 25, 2022 in Kaduna.



"We have made 117 seizures worth over N229m made possible through vigilance of our officers and men on patrol, as well as through various means including information received from patriotic Nigerians," he said.



According to him, such information will always be confidential, assuring those that disclose such that their identities would never be disclosed.



During the briefing, he also presented seized items to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and National Agency For Food Drugs Administration Control (NAFDAC).
While handing over seized items to NAFDAC and NDLEA, he said the Nigerian Customs Service will continue to perform functions of other agencies when they are not around.



"If NDLEA is not around, we have the capacity to arrest those crime that relate to their duty.

"Our capacity has improved and we are better motivated," he declared.



In his response, Assistant Commander Narcotics NDLEA, ACN Ali Ado Kubau said that what the NIgerian Customs Service did is handing over Indian Hemp seized in Katsina State.



"We congratulate NCS and wish to extend my Commandant appreciation, if these items had reached the hands of miscreants, it would have resulted to more daring criminal activities," he said.



In his remarks, Coordinator NAFDAF Kaduna State, Nasiru Mato thanked FOU Zone B for the landmark achievement.



He said fake drugs are dangerous to the health of the consumers.



Mato said that synergy and collaboration is yeilding desired results.



"This is not the first time we are doing this, I want to commend the officers and men of the Nigerian government for this great job," he said.



New NIgerian Newspapers reports that Items seized within the month under review are, seven sacks of foreign Tiger Nuts, 33 cartons foreign Milk Creamier, 135 sacks of expired foreign Milk powder and 31 cartons unregistered pharmaceutical products.



Also displayed were 191 bales of foreign second hand clothing, 50 kegs foreign vegetable oil, 227 cartons foreign sphagetti and couscous, 724 bags foreign parboiled rice and 90 parcels Indian Hemp.



Customs also displayed 23 sacks of foreign used shoes, 30 bags foreign fertilizer and 15 vehicles (nine means of conveyance, while 6 are imported fairly used).

And all of these items, the custom officers would share it among themselves.
