They thought that the federal government will be bothered with the fear of their party loosing in the next coming election to the opposition party due to the strike. That should be the case in country were things work.

Why ? You may ask,

Buhari does not want his party to win, because he is rooting for Atiku. Pure and simple. Your strick is working in favour of buhari's strategy..

ASUU gambled badly.

They must have thought Buhari is in a position to listen to them and grant them their wishes.
