Ravil Maganov, 67, became the latest victim in a string of mysterious Russian energy tycoon deaths after he fell from a sixth-floor window at a hospital in Moscow

A top Russian oil executive died after mysteriously falling from a window the sixth floor of a hospital.

Reports say Ravil Maganov, 67, died as soon as he hit the ground.

It is currently unknown why Maganov was at the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow, where former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev also died earlier this week.

Maganov's death is the latest in a series of mysterious deaths of Russian energy bosses killed in suspicious circumstances since Putin's war in Ukraine began.

Maganov had been the chairman of major Russian oil supplier, LUKOIL, since 2020, and had been awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky in 2019 by alleged close pal Vladimir Putin.

He had been in senior positions within the company, which has served a number of major European countries including Germany, since joining the board in the early 1990s.

There has been no official statement on the cause of death, however an initial report from MASH media which has links to Russian law enforcement claims "he threw himself out of the window", indicating suicide.

The late energy tycoon leaves behind a brother, Nail Maganov, 64, who is the head of another oil company Tatneft after the pair followed in their father's footsteps and entered the oil industry.

He was also survived by his wife Fania, the head of an English-speaking school, and his son Ravil, a racecar driver.

LUKOIL has been cutting off its supplies to countries such as Germany, which relies heavily on oil from Russia, in response to sanctions from the West as Putin's war rages on.

The US also recently got a warrant to seize a plane owned by the enormous oil company after it was thought to violate sanctions imposed on Russia by the American government.
