Why You Were Not Invited For That Interview by OmosehinCopylor: 6:29pm On Sep 01, 2022
Why you were not invited for that interview

This post will save you a lot of stress in your quest to apply for jobs.

As a graduate you see a job posting you love and feel you are qualified for, you read through the job posting and submitted your CV. But after some time you wonder why you were not invited for the interview.

I know as a Nigerian you will be quick to conclude that they already have who to employ, the job posting was just camouflaged to the masses that they advertise recruitment.

But it may not be true, as you read on you will discover why recruiters are not inviting you for an interview.

1. Your CV is not tailored to the Job's need

The problem with many job seekers like you is that you are applying for a different job posting with just one CV. If this is you, then you are your problem.

You see, your CV is an important document that provides a detailed summary of your skill, qualification, achievement, and experience to recruiters.

Your CV shows recruiters why they should pick you ahead of many others who are applying for the same job.

The job world especially in Nigeria is very competitive, you cannot afford to be like every other person applying for the same job. You need to stand yourself out from the crowd.
And that is what your CV should do

Your CV must do the job of a salesman, it must be able to sell your skills, expertise, and experience as the solution to the company's problem.

You must understand that for every job posting you see outside, there's a problem the company is looking forward to getting a solution to, and this solution is what they are looking for in whoever they will employ.

So, they are not interested in all your achievements, education, awards, and skills if you cannot show them how you have used all these to solve a similar problem to theirs.

This is what will get you called up for the interview and possibly be employed.

Your ability to persuasively tailor your experience, achievement, skills, and ability as a solution to their problem is what matters.
Do you see why you keep being disappointed after submitting many CVs?

Disclaimer: This is not to say that there are no other factors that can make a recruiter not invite you for an interview but in most cases, this one takes a larger percentage than other factors.

As a job seeker, you should have more than 1 CV and make sure each one is tailored to the job you are using it for.

Stop using one CV type to apply for different jobs, and understand that each job has a unique need.

Do your homework very well to discover the need for every job
