Peter Gregory Obi CON (born 19 July 1961) is a Nigerian businessman and politician who served as Governor of Anambra from March to November 2006, February to May 2007, and from June 2007 to March 2014. In May 2022, he became the Labour Party nominee for President of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential election.

Born in Onitsha in 1961, Obi graduated from the University of Nigeria in 1984. Afterwards he entered business and banking, eventually rising to hold several high-ranking executive positions at banks. By the early 2000s, Obi was the chairman of Fidelity Bank before leaving the position to enter politics.

Obi ran for governor in 2003, as a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance but his main opponent was unlawfully declared victory. After three years of legal battles, Obi was declared winner in 2006 and assumed office in March, 2006. He was then impeached that November before the impeachment was overturned and he returned to office in February 2007.

Again, Obi was removed when a new election was held in April 2007 but the judiciary intervened again and ruled that he should be allowed to complete a full four-year term. In 2010, he won re-election to a second term. Obi's terms were marked by improvements in state finances, education, and healthcare.

Tinubu is also a political God father and the fact that he controls several positions in the southwest as he likes does not go down well with the opposition, he is also not trusted by some party stewards, The Jagaban as he is fondly called may have sensed this, that was why he has been going around visiting members of the Opposition who he has bad mouthed in the past. Atiku also has been called corrupt in the past by his Boss the then president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo OBJ, who went further to publish his dissatisfaction about Atiku in one of his books, he claimed that Atiku is not to be trusted because of his corrupt nature, This statement has always been a setback to Atiku's political ambition, many history scholars, will always refer to the time that Atiku was in the customs and how he managed to gather so much wealth illegally. The PDP presidential candidate, has also goofed when it came to religious matters, when he openly condemned the gruesome killing of Debora Samuel, but was quick to delete the tweets when he was warned by some Northern religions bodies that he will not be getting their votes in the coming election, he letter apologized for his actions but the harm was already done and this further deepened the mistrust he was already facing.
