Nigeria and the United States Women National Team have qualified for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup which will be hosted by Australia and New Zealand. And both teams will now play two friendly matches to kick-off very early preparation for next year’s world cup. The match is scheduled for Saturday the 3rd of September 2022 by 6pm Nigerian time and it will be played at the Children's Mercy Park, Kansas City in the United States. Both teams will then clash again at the Audi Field in Washington, D.C. three days later on the 6th of September.

Nigeria’s head coach, Randy Waldrum, selected four players from the Falconets that reached the quarter-finals at the just-concluded FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica. The players include; defenders Oluwatosin Demehin and Rofiat Imuran, and midfielders Esther Onyenezide and Deborah Abiodun.
