A seven-storey building under construction on Oba Idowu Oniru Street, Lagos, has collapsed, trapping about six persons.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident in the early hours of Sunday.

He stated that operation had commenced on the site to rescue those trapped.

He said, “Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, an uncompleted 7-storey building undergoing construction was found to have collapsed. No injury sustained however about six people are reported to be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed structure.

“The agency’s heavy duty equipment excavator will be required for the rescue of the trapped victims. We have activated Lagos State Response plan .Operation ongoing.”

Lagos and collapse building be like 5&6.
I remembered this young guy that was building a project on Eki Atlantic. Eventually the uncomplicated building collapsed, him and several others died.
May God put his fear in the developers to use quality building materials

Does it mean we have more quack build contractors or the proper build engineering team are not involved in such massive project.
From my experience as an estate surveyor, to embark on such project, there have to be a soil engineer to determine whether or the the site can hold such building after which quantity surveyors will be on ground to determine the quantity and quality of materials to be deployed...
May God help us and deliver those trapped.

It's like this is now a reoccuring decima in Lagos.. I just hope at the end no lives are actually lost.
