WIKE Political Ambition Beyond 2023 - Opinion by MtDave55: 11:30pm On Sep 04, 2022
Nyesom WIKE is a politician who have done much in bringing the dividends of democracy to his people, he have shown that despite the economic crisis in the world there are still much that can be done in delivery good governance. He is someone I admire and respect so much for his courageous way of speaking Truth to Power, his disposition towards rule of law and use of legal approach in seeking redress and justice.

While I understand with him in his outbourst over the the PDP primary, am left confused by his calculations towards 2023 election and how the outcome may serve his ambition there after, in my opinion his strategy of keeping his ambition alive is poor except if he is nolonger nursing the ambition of becoming president of NIGERIA after 2027.

If WIKE intend to contest again after 2023 his best bet is to support ATIKU because supporting either of TINUBU or OBI, he will suffer same fate as GEJ suffered in the hands of the Northerners in 2015.

With the way WIKE is fighting the North now he stand no chance of winning their support in the future election as he is already creating a bad blood for himself in the north. TINUBU knows the politics of the North that is why he is doing all he can to please them even by choosing SHITTIMA a fellow muslim as running mate, WIKE is not better strategist than BAT is if he is thinking he can actualize his ambition without the Northerners support, and if he thinks the few Northerners backing him mean well for him then he better recall how he was paid back by Tambuwal in 2022 despite all the sacrifices he made for Tambuwal in 2018.

Over the years it has become obvious that, No matter the personal interest of a core northern politician, the regional interest remain sacrosanct and come first before any personal or individual ambition. TAMBUWAL did a perfect demonstration of this ideology during the PDP convention earlier in this year without regards for the PDP constitution nor his friendship with WIKE and the numerous benefits he had gain from WIKE, all that mean nothing when the northern agenda is on ground.

WIKE should shed his sword, learn to play the role of the patient dog and support the PARTY (PDP), currently he is the most formidable PDP politician from the South, but if care is not taken he may soon loss that position to OKOWA or OBASEKI. If Okowa can relegate Ibori to the background he can equally relegate WIKE as well besides WIKE has many enemies already even within RIVERS. WIKE can remain relevant in the PDP if he decides to have one leg in and the other out, he helped to revive the political career of AYU, OBASEKI, MAKINDE, ORTOM, TAMBUWAL and others. There are much who will be willing to do likewise for him for him when he might need them, in less than a year he will be out of power and his Political influence might equally decline, he will need those in power to remain relevant.

As e de sweet us e go continue de pain them.

Wike is just behaving like a raging bull in a China shop who is reckless with his political future. However, he must bear in mind that the cane they used to flog Rotimi Amaechi, Rochas Okorocha, Ogbonnaya Onu, David Umahi is still on ground to be used on him.

Wike does not have any further ambition after 2023. He knew that even before the primaries. He knew he stands no chance but just wanted to push his luck. He already addressed himself sometime ago as a local champion. He only wants to make sure Atiku losses, and I doubt he will be supporting Tinubu too. He is just catching cruise. Wike has reached his bustop in politics.

The only avenue to fight if he wants to be relevant beyond 2023, else, he’ll be swept into the dustbin of history.

Moreso, he committing a political suicide by being too arrogant and some heavyweights are watching him. Those heavyweights won’t trust him with any sensitive national office in the future.

Does he expect the core north to rally round him in any future engagement now that he’s busy attacking and abusing their elites in PDP.

Wike should be wise to realize that Makinde and Ortom will be helpless when he’ll need help in the future.
