The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) has donated some academic books to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State. The books were donated in recognition of the University’s pride position in the Nigerian Education System.

Presenting the books yesterday during a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sunday Eom, the President and Chairman of Council of the association, Prof. Benjamin Osisioma, who was represented at the event by the Chairman, Ebonyi State Chapter, Dr. Louis Chinedu Nkwagu, noted that the books were donated in recognition of the University’s pride place in the Nigerian Education System.

“On 5th May, 2022, the President and Chairman of Council of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Prof. B. C. Osisioma, celebrated his retirement from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State at an enviable age of 70. In that event, a number of books were unveiled and consequently, the President and Chairman of Council in recognition of the pride place of your institution in Nigerian education system approved for the presentation of copies of compendium and festschrift to you for the university library.”

Continuing the Chairman noted that the University was one of the selected institutions to benefit from the donation, which is composed of two book titles of 4 copies. The books are “Values and Ethics in Leadership and Government: A Millennial Challenge” and “Governance and Professionalism in the 21st Century: Accountants Blueprint” – a festschrift in honur of Rev. Canon Prof. Benjamin Chuka Osisioma.



He also used the opportunity to appeal for the continued support of the University management to the professional development of their members who are staff of the University, especially by sponsoring them to attend professional development programmess like seminars, workshops, conferences and others.

While giving his response, the Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Abel Ezeoha thanked the association for choosing the University as one of the beneficiaries of the books, adding that the University had also received some computers and accounting software from the association in 2019 when Prof. Osisioma led the national executive of the body to the University.



He explained that the materials and equipment donated by the association helped in the establishment of an accounting laboratory in the University and in the accreditation of the University’s accounting programme by both the National Universities Commission and its professional body.

On the issue of professional development of the University staff who are members of ANAN, the Vice-Chancellor, noted that the University is one family that lives and works together as a team, adding that the internal policies of the institution are geared towards building internal cohesion, and assured of the management’s support to the professional training and development of the concerned staff in relation to availability of funds.



He further maintained that from inception, the University had designed its curricula in a way to collaborate with professional bodies like ANAN.
