WORSENING CONDITION OF ENUGU STATE ROADS AND ITS NEGLECT: A WORRISOME DEVELOPMENT.

One of the important Key Performance Indicators of good governance is good and accessible roads in both urban and rural areas because it will promote easy movement of people, goods and farm produce.

The dilapidating state of Enugu Urban roads and its total neglect is worrisome to say the least.

More painful is that some of those in government are comfortable passing through these roads (death traps) with a theory of see no evil and say no evil provided a monthly salaries are coming in without full entitlements and benefits. Is this not very bad?

Would it be unfair to say that this present government has failed in this deliverable?

A government that will not construct good quality roads and will not maintain the good roads done by the previous administration is not anything but a bad government.

Let us use a major urban road in Enugu as a case study.

� A strategic AKWATA road that only Sullivan administration was able to provide a lasting solution has been abandoned to dilapidation. Those that grew up in Enugu that passed through that road at its sorry state before Sullivan's administration worked on it will understand how bad it was after several maintenances.

This road requires urgent maintenance but it seems to be that the government has turned a blind eyes to it. The beginning of the road and the centre of it is fast dilapidating without attention.

Would it be wrong to say that this administration lacks maintenance culture?

� Enugu Central Police Station to Prisons Roundabout to Mutala Roundabout to NEW Market Roundabout, and that axis are all DEATH TRAPS.

Unfortunately, an elderly woman that had a flat tyre last Sunday as she entered into the potholes before traffic light opposite Texaco Filling Station going to new market was totally disappointed with this administration.

In her words, she said that we do not have a good government in Enugu because during SULLIVAN CHIME government, this road was not bad like this.

Conservatively, maintenance of these major roads may not cost more than N25m but we prefer to share the money to group of people thinking that it will attract more votes to us. It is arguable because good work will attract more votes than sharing money to those that want good governance. "Money shared does not create legacy but good works do".

Also, maintenance of Agbani Road is yet to be completed because it stopped at Police College without extending it to Ogbunike Street where the road ended. From Police College to where the road ended are death traps. It is also calls for attention.

We are appealing with the state government to give required maintenance attention to these roads in order to giving the state a facelift and avoid more accidents on the roads

Enugu shall be good again!

Those are urban roads in Enugu. Ugwuanyi has taken the state 200yrs backward. I am from nsukka

Ugwuanyi wasted resources building one useless substandard disjointed flyover instead of fixing the dilapidated roads in Enugu urban

Op, Nobody can satisfy human beings. This one has been paid to spoil what Ugwayi been able to achieved. Nobody can do it all, he has done his own, tell your daddy and mummy at home to also go and contest for Enugu governorship so he/sh can fix the remaining roads you pointed out. If you know a road will not be more than 25millions to build, why can't you borrow state money to do it or sell your family properties to fund the road as good citizen of Enugu state.

I bet you, you will not only be celebrated but given many cultural titles and honours for doing so. Most difficult animals to rule in this world are human beings, you can never satisfy them. Just do what is good to your conscience and fear of God and leave. They will be shouting Obi, Tinubu and Atiku right now, later they will come back to abuse them as worst president ever and later come back to wish Buhari were their president again.

Sullivan Chime was the last governor in the state. This man Ugwanyi was just a placeholder.
