The only thing I see here is that the people & NLC don't trust Buhari's administration, simple. |

Why will a sane government be subsidizing what they produce. This things aren't supposed to be overpriced by default, but due to the level of corruption and criminal minded the big bosses of Nigeria are they will keep looking for ways to loot our resources, thereby enriching other countries. Products that aren't been produced in Nigeria like electronic, phones, laptops etc are things that should be subsidized, but here in Nigeria this are things that are been bought *2 of the normal price of such products in other sane country. This is why we need someone like Peter Obi, we the sane Nigerians are tired of promise and fail government. 1 Like |

Lol seems Keyamo had lost his mind in the past few weeks. Buhari himself mentioned subsidy will go with him when he leaves power April next year so there is nothing to debate on in the first place |

The removal of fuel subsidy will go a long way in solving so many of our problem and it can only be achieved by revitalizing our refineries. Sadly, none of the aspirants promised us that he will bring our refineries back to life. |

Their greatest nightmare is Peter Obi that's why they pick holes in everything he says as if somebody is perfect. keyamo is trying to incite the NLC against the labour party candidate and he knows bringing up this sensitive issue of fuel subsidy removal will incur the wrath of NLC against him. |

If Obi is serious about removing subsidy, then he is making a lot of sense. Subsidy is a big burden on our economy. It eats up money, no way one looks at it. It is also one of the main reasons, if not the main reason why we don't have working refineries from NNPC, and why Dangote refinery would soon join them if it isn't removed by the time it comes on stream At the end, you cannot force a business to run at a loss, and then pay them a subsidy that does not cover the loss. Keyamo is the one that should get real. If subsidy was working, how come our budget deficit is rising. How come governors from his own party are pointing out that allocaitons to states are reducing. The APC has failed...economics....forever. |

irumanle: Because you cannot revitalise refineries without removing subsidy in the first place. Remove subsidy, and refineries would have to work for their money, since no more free government money. Also, since government is not controlling prices as well, they would have enough money to ensure that each and every refinery works. Because importing fuel costs too much money. |

Kasssandra: You are writing absolute rubbish. How can Labour which has always opposed the removal of oil subsidies suddenly support a candidate who says he would remove subsidies when till today if you attempt to remove oil subsidies, the same Labour would protest and ground the country to a halt? 1 Like |

NLC have confidence (TRUST) in Peter Obi to do it HONESTLY and TRUTHFULLY. NLC also believes that when Peter Obi looks into the subsidy matter with his PRUDENT Mindset, he may discover that subsidy matter is a BIG FRAUD!!! NLC does NOT trust the present Federal Government. |

Landowner101: That's not how it works. You subsidize essentials which otherwise would make the less privileged suffer. For instance, in UK, meal vouchers are given to parents so their kids can afford meals. You don't subsidize luxuries and in fact, you tax them. |

Landowner101: You want cheap electronics...that is not possible. Electronics cost a lot of money to produce. Also, they are not expensive compared to other parts of the world. They cost exactly the same. If government subsidisies electronics, the people who import them won't make enough profit to bring them in. That is when you will start seeing severe scarcity, plus a lot of businesses who specialise in selling these things will close. As an example...if it cost me N200000 to bring in a laptop, for me to sell at N250000, and then government comes in and tells me to sell the laptop at N50000 and pays me a subsidy of N50000, that means I lose my potential profit of N50000 , plus an additional N100000. Tell me, will I keep on selling laptops after this? Since I cannot earn a profit to pay for the rent of my shop, pay my workers, pay taxes, and meet my family needs....and still have some cash to pay my suppliers? Plus there are people who make these things, who need the money to survive too. See why subsidies don't work.? We have bad refinereis, because we subsidised them, and thus there wasn't enough money..leading to sabotage, corruption and losses. Cause and effect. |

Okealaaye: So in your upside down innards, Tinubu = Buhari Did you see me mention Buhari in my comment ? Since that is your thought pattern, the Buhari's Failures in Office = Tinubu's Failure. Therefore he cannot be the President of Nigeria, because Nigerians are not prepared for Buhari 2.0 Nigerians are not ready for Buhari Pro Max. |

Realist12: He is thinking outside the box. Consider that in nine months we have spent twice as much as we spent on subsidy over the last one year...because crude oil prices went up too much...meaning prices of fuel too went up, meaning subsidy costs went up as well. That affects the budget...we have a massive deficit as a result Guess who that affects...the same poor people. |
