A four-storey building collapsed in Uyo today at around 5:30pm leaving some people trapped inside the rubble. The incident happened at Iman Street, off Aka Road. The building was supposed to be a six-storey building. The contractors were on the fourth floor when it collapsed. Residents of the area, who gathered around the scene of the collapsed structure, appeared unable to help the situation. There are strong indications that some of the people who were working inside the building are still trapped in the rubble. Officers of the state fire service commenced rescue operations about two hours after the incident

Thank God that the contract for the construction of third mainland bridges are not awarded to a Nigerian contractor.It would have collapsed long ago. 1 Like |
