Anambra Bans Wearing Of Miniskirts Among Female Students

Anambra has banned the wearing of miniskirts as school uniform among female students in the state. The ban was made known by the Commissioner For Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh in Awka on Sunday. The announcement of the ban became effective as the new academic session starts on Monday, 19th September, 2022.

She noted that the announcement has been made known to all stakeholders in the education sector in the state, including both public and private education secretaries.

However, the commissioner berates the frivolity behind the wearing of miniskirts in the state, stating that it is morally wrong and unacceptable according to the societal standard. She opined that morals should be communicated into the lives of the students.

“A student should look smart, well groomed, project positive vibes and not be indecently dressed for school.

“The acceptable length for uniforms in the state remains knee length and not above the knee, which is fast becoming the fashion trend in schools,’’ she noted.

The trend of putting on miniskirts is rampant among secondary school girls nowadays. Therefore, many see the latest ban of the wearing of miniskirts by the Anambra State government as a timely help for the much indecent dressings by the students and a discipline for the morally ill ones. However, some people have raked the government over the coal for taking a piece of parental responsibility which is not part of the function of a government.
