The primary difference between standard Aluminum extrusion and active aluminum heat sinks is the thickness of the base and fins. The former is generally thicker because it is easier to extrude. The latter is less easily shaped and is less costly. Compared to copper, the latter is more durable and easier to recycle, making it a more sustainable material.
