The management of Imo State University (IMSU) disclosed that the university has pulled out of the over seven-month industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU). It was announced that academic activities will resume fully in the school and all the students should make themselves available as soon as possible. The announcement was made known through the school’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ralph Njoku to the press. According to the PRO, the school management deemed it fit to resume academic activities so that it will not be at risk of losing students, especially fresh students and aspirants. Nonetheless, he stated that the university has no problem with the ASUU. He then said that the decision taken was meant to prevent academic disruption and nemesis for the students and the generations of students to be admitted. “The management has decided to open the university for academic activities. We don’t have any issue with ASSU we just open the school for academic activities. Lecturers who are willing will now come to start lecturing. “We decided that we don’t want to shortchange our next generation. Just like the 2022 applicants, we have not even matriculated them and we are coming up with 2022/2023 if we keep delaying we will lose so many people who are desirous of University education. So, we felt it is time to hold the bull by the horn. The ASUU has been on strike since February 14 this year to press home their demands about the increment of salary, revitalization funds, among others. However, the federal government has failed to meet none of their demands fully. All consultations and negotiations have failed. Hence, the federal government has sued the ASUU to the industrial court in order to compel the ASUU to resume academic activities in the country’s universities. https://www.emeritushub.com/imsu-pulls-out-of-ASUU-strike/ |

Betrayer Southerners....I now know why this northerners refuse to trust us. We don't endure at all...the northern universities who are the biggest beneficiaries of tetfund, NEED grants stood their ground without backing out. No governor even threaten you, you're backing out. May God help we the Southerners in our betraying attributes. Education shall be great again in Nigeria even more than that of South Africa and Botswana by God's grace. Not the mushroom university education that we having presently. You're complaining of unemployment, which company would employ quack and half bake graduate when they can access grounded South African or Botswanan graduates to work in their companies at Europe, Australia , New Zealand and across all the regions of the world. Poor educational quality with zero international competitiveness must stop in Nigeria for the sake of our unborn generation. The ruling class put their children in best universities across the globe, yet Nigerian fail to hold them for account on, why can't the children of president, governors, senator school in Nigeria? But rather they are contend with over growing unemployment rate of halfbake graduate without value addition. Ignorant kills more than atomic bombs. |
