If you're contemplating starting your business on the internet then you need to ask yourself if your product or service will work online.

When you are deciding to introduce a new brand to the marketplace,

you also have to decide whether it is going to be an online brand or a brick and mortar brand.

To make your mark on the Internet you have to follow some of the same principles that would make your brand successful in the offline space as well.

For example, Amazon-a web based brand that has used the internet to its advantage,

has become the leading seller of books on the Internet, far outpacing some brick and mortar stores that also have an online presence.

So you see deciding what works for your product and/or service early enough will help you channel your energy and resources profitably,

and you will not just exist as a brand that solves no obvious problem but rather your target audience will identify with and also patronize you whether you
decide you want to use the Internet as home base.

Also ask yourself, "Am I going to use it as a home for my business or is it just going to be a way that consumers can also reach me besides brick and mortar stores?"

Decide on this early as you may not be able to dominate both.
