The United States needed a "sanctions expert" in order not to harm its own economy.

The US Treasury Department has opened a vacancy for the "guru of sanctions".

This is an economist who will advise the agency on the impact of restrictive measures on financial markets, foreign trade, energy and other areas, Bloomberg reported.

The consultant should help the government avoid economic shocks.

"Two decades after the US began relying more and more on sanctions to put pressure on opponents around the world, they are hiring someone to make sure that these measures work as they should," the agency points out.

Earlier, the White House analyzed the economic sanctions imposed and found that over the past 20 years, their number has increased by 933%.
