President Muhammadu Buhari's government has threatened to withdraw the Certificate of Registration (CoR) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over the alleged to submit the financial reports of its audited account.

The Federal Government on Thursday introduced a new twist to the rift between the two bodies.

The new twist came barely a day after the Court directed the ASUU to suspension of its seven months old strike.

Newsflash Nigeria had earlier reported the National Industrial Court (NIC) ordered the ASUU to suspend the industrial action pending the determination of the matter referred to it by the Nigerian government through its Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige.

The judge, Polycarp Hamman, gave the order on Wednesday, in a ruling on the federal government’s application for an interlocutory injunction against the ongoing ASUU strike.

The government said the court injunction ordering ASUU back to the classrooms would not affect negotiations with the union.

The government threatened to withdraw the union’s CoR because of its alleged failure to submit the financial reports of its audited account as required by law in the last five years.
