The leadership of Labour Party on Saturday expressed appreciation to supporters of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who had continued to render financial assistance and converted their buildings for political campaigns across the country.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Labour Party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, in Abuja.

Abure’s appreciation is coming in the wake of the Labour movement rallies that took place in Abuja, Plateau and a number of other states.

The LP chairman stated that he did not find the unprecedented crowd that turned up for solidarity march for the party’s presidential candidate surprising.

This is even as he acknowledged that supporters of the movement went out of their way to contribute as little as N1,000 and N10,000 to hold such rallies.

He said, “The rallies are not surprising. It is because the Labour Party has a people-oriented candidate that will work for the people and that will effectively serve the interest of the party.

“Of course, the people must own the process. The people will fund the process because they say he who plays the pipe dictates the tune. Therefore, the people are the owners of the party and that is why they are funding these activities.

“People are contributing money, N1000, N10,000 and so on to carry out rallies for themselves. People are donating their buildings and the people of Nigeria are gradually owning the Labour Party.

“The Labour Party is a party for the poor, the artisans, students, market women, the down trodden, civil servants, hewers of wood and fetchers of water and the ordinary man in the street. They own the party and they form more that 90 percent of Nigerians.”

An elated Abure said he was optimistic that when the time for campaigns commenced, people would troop out for the party and own it.

According to him, Nigerians find it hard to believe that Labour Party could change the political narratives in Nigeria within a short space of time.

“All these movements and activities you are seeing all over, Labour Party has no contribution to it. The people are mobilising themselves, printing logo and campaign materials of the party from their pockets.

“They are driving the process of the campaign by themselves and that is what we are seeing. The people are now asking questions about how they are being ruled. They want to sack the looters and change the status quo.

“They want to put an end to activities of some people who have stolen from the common purse. The people have always been at the recieving end, but all those scenario are about to change. The party is the voice of the voiceless, and that is what you see in those rallies, that is what is replicated all over the nation,” he said.

Nigerians should be aware that Bola Ahmed Tinubu in collaboration with Lagos State Government are prepared to make use of the last kobo from Lagos State to fund, campaign and buy votes for Tinubu.

BAT team knows President Buhari wouldn't use funds from Federal Government to support Tinubu. Their only hope of getting more money to support Tinubu is from Lagos State. That is why there has been a steady increase in fines and some funny forms of taxes in Lagos State, which his supporters try to defend by saying such forms of taxation exist in other countries.

Its important Nigerians know that whatever Tinubu as an APC candidate will give you free of charge now, he will collect it back in ten (10) folds from the funds meant to ensure a national spread of development.

My only concern is that elections are a few months away and that may not be sufficient time for the remotest villages in Nigeria to know about Labour Party.

I want to see a working and sane Nigeria in my lifetime. May God help Obi succeed, amen.

One of the biggest & most significant events that has happened in the Nigerian political space this year is the emergence of the OBIdient movement.
It's a defining moment in our democratic journey.
Before now we were forced to vote who the elite presents to us. But now,we have found our own man & we r voting for him to become the 5th democratically elected president of the federal republic since '99.

Honestly I must say political structure is very very important in an election but one thing people fail to understand is political structures are only effective if and only of the populace are really indifferent about the candidates contesting
One the masses are graviting heavly towards a particular candidate there is little or nothing political structure can do
PDP had the "structures " in the core north ,governors ,ministers ,senators but never for once won Buhari in the core north why ? Because the masses were completely inclined to support Buhari

This is the same thing happening for Peter obi in the south and middle belt

Assuming Tinubu contested in 2015 in place of Buhari he would've won the PDP, if he had contested in 2019, he would've won the presidency but he was played by the north.
Buhari didn't leave a good foundation for him to build on using the APC platform, Buhari's only excuse for poor governance was his health challenge...Now Tinubu wants to play the same card that Buhari played that kept us where we are currently.
I believe Tinubu would've done better than Buhari if he was in the ballot back in 2015 but he gambled his only chance and now Nigerians are wiser now, he has similar method of governance with Buhari and he's not just contesting against Atiku...but against someone that already has the support of more than 75% of the populace Peter Obi....it will take massive rigging for Tinubu to be president of Nigeria as things stand now... I wish him good luck as he continues buying for votes....
