Duties:

• Respond to colleagues’ reports of repairs required in the school facility. Decide or approve necessary action, and the appropriate response time required in accordance with AFSS policy and procedures; check and authorize work to be carried out, contacting contractors when necessary or providing advice to colleagues.
• Carry out minor repairs, or interim emergency repairs, where this is necessary or cost effective.
• Undertake pre and post inspections of reactive maintenance works in accordance with agreed procedures and sampling methods.
• Inspect damaged school items/properties on notification by various departments, ensuring necessary repair works are ordered and completed timeously within the target period.
• Undertake pre and post inspections for cyclical maintenance and service contracts.
• Provide monitoring and action reports in accordance with agreed standards and procedures, distributing these to the Registrar and Deputy Registrar.
• Provide temporary cover in other Maintenance Officers’ areas when they are absent.
• Arrange for and maintain records of appliance testing in AFSS as required.
• Assist the Registrar/Deputy Registrar in the preparation of the annual reactive, cyclical, and planned maintenance programmes and budgets.
• Assist the Registrar/Deputy Registrar in reviewing the approved contractor list.
