Instructions For Mounting A Kitchen Sink by Newsly: 5:10pm On Oct 02, 2022
How to install a new kitchen sink, including the necessary steps, materials, and expenses.

For much less money, you can give your kitchen a brand new look by replacing the sink, faucet, and countertop with brand new fixtures. Fittings that simply screw or glue together make it easy to install a new sink and faucet, frequently without the need for solder or torches.

The Cost of Putting in a New Kitchen Sink.
Pricing varies from €51 to €311 for various sink sizes and materials.

What's the easiness level for putting in a new sink in the kitchen?
Installing a new sink and faucet is very easy, but connecting the drain can be difficult because of the many parts involved between the sink's tailpiece and the waste line. The sink tailpiece is the starting point for any sink repair. In this situation, a swivel P-trap with a trap adaptor really comes in handy. It can be tilted up and down and swivelled left and right along two axes.

Dublin Heating Services suggests creating a "map" like the one shown below and measuring the inside diameters of the tailpiece and waste line, typically 1 12 inches, before making a trip to the store. Then, rather than purchasing a pre-packaged set, you can instead acquire the individual components you require, such as Schedule 41 PVC pipe, and assemble it yourself.

Method for Installing a Kitchen Sink in 8 Easy Steps
Step 1
Prepare a blueprint of where you want to put the sink in the kitchen by taking measurements.
Make a mark on the back of the countertop at the cabinet's edge to determine where to position the sink.

The sink's template, if it has one, should be lined up with the dot on the countertop. Keep the back edge parallel and 112 inches from the back of the counter.

Just draw a circle around it and keep going. If you don't have a sink template, just measure and mark the area around it with a piece of tape that's 2 inches wide.

Put a dot in the middle of the back of the sink's rim to indicate its centre.

Place the sink bottom-up on the work surface. Match the sink's dot to the one on the work surface.

Make sure there is space of 112 inches between the rear of the sink and the wall. Check that the sink's edge is flush with the counter's.

Draw a rim around the drain and take it out.

Just inside the sink outline, make a mark that is the width of the lip minus 1/8 inch.

Join the dots with a straightedge to create the cutting lines.

Step 2
Inscribe the slicing guides onto the work surface.
A rectangular outline of the sink's hole can be drawn on the counter by joining the markings with a straightedge.

Hand-round the edges to a radius close to that of the sink's.

Next, drill a hole inside the radius at each corner of the cut-out lines using a spade bit that is slightly broader than the jigsaw blade (12-inch bit is usually sufficient).

Step 3
Use a jigsaw to make a hole for the sink.
Start cutting from the front hole and follow the cut line around to the back hole with a jigsaw. Turn the page and do it again.

Put a plank of wood across the hole in the counter where the sink is. To stop the waste from falling or binding the saw blade, screw through the debris and into the cutout waste.

Follow the marked front and back slits when cutting. Take out the hole.

To make sure the sink fits into the hole in the countertop, test it in place.

Step 4
Repairing a Kitchen Faucet
Flip the sink over and rest it on a sawhorse or cushioned counter.

The faucet's supply tube and tailpiece must be threaded up through the sink's hole(s) and then through the gasket sealing the faucet to the sink.

Add the washers and mounting nuts to the underside of the sink deck and tighten the nuts.

Before you tighten the mounting bolts, be sure the faucet can make a full arc across the sink.

Step 5
Cover the Plumber's Putty with a Strainer.
While the sink is still inverted, stuff a thick plumber's putty roll beneath the strainer lip and force it up through the drain hole.

Place the strainer against the underside of the sink with the gasket, washer, and housing (if your strainer has one) in place. Coat the bare threads with pipe-joint compound.

After threading the locknut onto the strainer by hand, use the pliers to tighten it while holding the strainer in place.

Place the gasket over the tailpiece of the sink drain, then secure the strainer with the slip nut. Use your free hand to tighten the nut while holding the strainer.

Step 6
Prepare a sink and hook up the water supply.
Using a pulling motion toward the hole's centre, carefully remove the tape.

Squeeze a bead of silicone caulk down the lip of the sink's underside while the sink is still inverted.

Put the sink's drain in the top before you set it upright.

Be sure the sink's front edge is flush with the countertop's front edge. Change it if you think it needs to be changed.

Acorn-head supply tubes or braided stainless steel hoses can be used to link the faucet to the valves that control water flow.

Connect the spray hose to the threaded end of the faucet.

Step 7
Put the Drain Pipes Together.
The sink drain tailpiece must be fitted with the trap adapter.

To join the trap adapter to the trap and the drain elbow to the waste line, PVC pipe lengths must be cut and dry-fitted. Adjust the length and orientation of the pipes by swivelling or sliding the trap on the tailpiece. Separate the drain's components.

Remove any debris from the severed ends using a utility knife. Use PVC primer to cover them and their counterparts. Dry off.

To seal the junction, use PVC cement on both ends.

The components must be pushed together at once. The hold time is 31 seconds.

All threaded connections should be reassembled and tightened by hand.

Step 8
Clean the Drain Hose for the Dishwasher
Using the waste nib of the tailpiece, connect the dishwasher drain hose. You can use a screwdriver to snug up the hose clamp.

The putty on the strainer's rim should be scraped off.

Take the faucet's aerator off and let the watr flow freely. Check the plumbing supply and drain lines for any signs of leakage at the fittings. Tighten the nuts one-eighth of a turn at a time until the leak stops.

Adjust the sink so that the front edge is flush with the front edge of the counter. While the caulk cures overnight, fill the sink with water to hold it in place.
