...MARYAM MOHAMMED MAKES CASE FOR INCLUSIVE WOMEN POLITICAL PARTICIPATION.


As Nigeria celebrates it's 62rd independence anniversary, A Nigerian Women mobiliser and political stalwart, Maryam Mohammed has called on Nigerian women to be relentless in pressing for the implementation of the Nigerian gender policy, political parties gender policies and INEC gender policy in the forthcoming 2023 general election.



She made the call in Abuja on the backdrop of the 2022 independence celebration, She stated that women’s political participation and leadership in Nigeria is critical not only for good governance but to engender policies as getting women empowered politically will help women achieve and sustain their development
goals.


She revealed that Women’s political
participation is imperative for achieving inclusive, equitable and sustainable development and Hence, Nigerian women at all levels should
organise themselves,educate and create awareness of the importance women political participation.



She stated that many Nigerian women have continued to run round in circle when it comes to the issue of effective participation that could translate to enhancing their political power and consequently their development.



She called on women to gear action and devise strategies of overcoming the barriers to their political empowerment and combat those constraints that stand against their political emancipation.
