The bike model...has an extension cord that powers the controls, ..that harden the pedals...or soften it.
The activity display screen, has inbuilt battery's in some other models...but this particular model...is activated like a threadmill. its primary source of power is electricity.

Because I can see the red knob at the middle which closely looks like the one I use over here that acts as gear. It has gear 1,2,3,4 and the 4th is the hardest.

The wire can mean anything like I described above. I am not holding brief for anyone, but sometimes we have to say things as it is and I don’t care if it pleases or hurts anyone.
So many gym bikes I have used both in Nigeria and outside does not use electricity. Even Elliptic machines, some treadmills as well. Majority of them are designed as mechanical to electricity.
