The US Department of Defense has awarded a three-year, $4.5 million contract to the University of Virginia (UVA) to conduct applied research to advance hypersonic technology, focusing on engine design, control, maneuverability, and operational stability. The purpose of the work is to complete the development of the technology and conduct ground tests of individual components, culminating in comprehensive ground tests of the scramjet during a three-year period of operation. The proposed study, sponsored by the Joint Hypersonic Transition Office (JHTO) through the University Consortium for Applied Hypersonics (UCAH), will be conducted by the University of Virginia, the University of Minnesota, North Carolina State University, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and Virginia State University. Industrial partners include Innoveering, Calspan and Boeing. They do. They have simply downgraded it to civilian research. America always thinks business. Wait and see what new innovations will come out. Same model with space and internet development. (they were all DARPA initiatives) now elon musk and co dey rock space and rockets anyhow while russia and d rest dey look US defence has moved on |
