Do you even know what money laundering is?

All of you parroting money laundering can't even explain how money laundering works if asked.

Someone may have paid 4500 its original value under bidding pressure but that doesn't increase its value by same factor. It can only do what it could before its price skyrocketed.
It is just a for inflation in the end.

Diplomatically launder funds under the guise of bidding for collector items, same thing happened to nearly all great art works and paintings.....

Finally, someone who have actual sense and knowledge of the real deal, I dey see many comments of people saying it may be a map to secret treasure, or something valuable in it, hahaha I just dey laugh, una no know wats up. Same way those paintings sell for millions, some worthless piece of shit be selling for life changing amounts n u don't already know there's a business behind it, more than what lame people see.

That money may be less than 2% of their networth. You'll be surprised.

because many in Nigeria have a debased lack of appreciation for history that is unprecedented among human beings outside of Nigeria, you will think it is money laundering.

That vase is priceless. It is one of the pieces you can use to tell the story of humanity because it has history behind it. That history is worth millions. This vase is where the term 'fine china' comes from.

many of you have sold your father's ofo and family artifacts for a plate of church rice. or have burned it for nothing, so i don't blame you.

If you have sense and want to make money, learn pottery and sell it on etsy or amazon. That fact it's coming from Africa will fetch a higher price. If it is in alignment with cultural styles and rooted in history you can make over $100 per piece (cup, place, figurine etc). Remember it is the culture and history that will sell it, so if you make ordinary nonsense don't bother.

Mouth watering amount. Like they say, value or worth of objects are relative. Intrinsic and extrinsic values are two different things

Money laundering is not rocket science, it is simply turning dirty Money to clean Money. And people use expensive artworks to turn dirty money to clean Money by reselling the art or even use it as collateral to collect bank loan.

That's not how art is used to launder money.

Which genuine auction house will allow you use dirty money to purchase art work? Or you think Sotheby's invites drug dealers to their auctions.

While you know what money laundering is, you have no idea how art is used in money laundering. It is not a simple case of buying and reselling art because before you are able to buy high ticket art items, you have to pass AML and EDD checks.

And in the particular transaction in this thread, that isn't money laundering.
