Napoleon Bonaparte was an Italian.

He was born on the island of Corsica, which was annexed by the French around the time of his birth


He was an above average mathematician.

He excelled in mathematics in Bruenne(maybe got that wrong) and was to join the navy


He was a misogynist

His mother was quite harsh on him while growing up and this influenced his view on women strongly. He was known for pouring drinks on women, and also using harsh words on them.

His first wife was an evening newspaper

Josephine...(her last name too long) was 33 years and Napoleon was 26 when the married. She had 2 children from her previous marriage who Napoleon adopted. Her daughter married Napoleons brother and her son was one of Napoleons great generals.

At the early part of the marriage, she cheated on him seriously. While Napoleon was fighting the Austrians in Italy. she was busy straffing one Hippolyte Charles, a lieutenant in the army. She even went further to lobby contracts to her lover. And Napoleon was aware of all this.

Later on, the tide turned when Napoleon became more powerful. He cheated on her without shame. and she even had to he selecting the misresss that wouldn't over throw her.

She never conceived for Napoleon and he was forced to divorce her and marry Emperor Francis II of Austria's daughter.

He loved her though. When she died, he locked himself in for 2 days and he mentioned her name on his death bed.

He had a strong sense of smell

After battles, he usually threw up at the smell of decomposing corpses.

He was a great commander

Personally, he is among my top ten commanders of all time.

He will be remembered for the Battle of Austerlitz.


Later on, due to making politically based decisions, he wasn't so efficient as before.

His useless Commanders such as. Marshal Ney didn't help matters.

He was too trusting

Or maybe no too ruthless, Bernadette, who was the epitome of treachery and insubordination should have been executed but he had a soft spot for him because he married the girl Napoleon disvirgined: Desiree Clay.
He went as far as allowing him to be the King of Sweden. Bernadotte paid him back by joining the 7th coalition whicg was his downfall.

Murat, another of his generals became King of Italy and also betrayed him.

He was too ambitious
This was his greatest undoing.

He was the master of Europe but his over ambitiousness caused him to wage a useless war in the Iberian peninsula (Portugal and Spain) and also invade Russia (his greatest mistake.)

Waterloo was a close call

Contrary to popular opinion, he almost won the Battle of Waterloo.

This battle was lost due to the in efficency of Marshal Ney.

Wellington even said "The Prussians or night must come"

It was a Prussian reenforcement that ensured that Waterloo was lost.

He was overtly superstitious
He usually used to ask if a general was lucky.

His first wife used that against him.
When he wanted to divorce her, she told him that he might run out of luck. This lead him to suspend the divorce. Truly, after his divorce, it can be said that he ran out of luck.
