So scared of getting old
Yet we long to live long
It comes with wisdom as we were told
Old age is a blessing so says the song

Scared of not being a youth
And the all-round expectations of always bearing the truth
It catches up with us all
No matter the deity we call

It’s a debt
We try to forget
As we strive to forever look younger than we are
Even amid life’s battles and the scar

I am in constant repair
As I carry my burden with just a few to share
The race against time
And the attendant notion that looking older is a crime
