... CEMENT FACTORY TO REMAIN SHUT

1. The Executive Governor of Kogi State wishes to thank the people of the state for their resoluteness in the ownership impasse between the Dangote Group and the State Government.

2. While the State Government recognises the right of the citizens to peaceful protest as we witnessed across the state yesterday; we urge the people to remain civil, law abiding and give room for constitutionalism. Breakdown of law and order will not be in the interest of anyone as we hope to remain the most peaceful state in Nigeria.

3. To this end, the Governor has directed that trucks loading cement that are impounded across the State be released with immediate effect to either return to the plant or go to their destinations peacefully. As a State, we must retain the peaceful and business friendly environment that have attracted scores of investment giants to the state in the last seven years.

4. The Governor has also urged the Management of Dangote Group to ensure the Cement Factory at Obajana is shut down within the next 48 hours in honor of the legislative arm of Government which ordered the plant sealed until the Dangote Group furnishes the legislature with the requisite documents demanded by the legislature. As a Government, we will defend and protect all Government institutions against impunity.

5. The Governor also wishes to assure the people of the state of his unwavering commitment to defending their interest without compromise. As the face of the struggle with the over four million Kogites behind him, he will ensure the interest of the state is defended with a high sense of integrity, responsibility and allegiance through democratic instruments.

6. We call on the people to remain calm and law abiding as well as continue to have faith in the leadership of the Governor to deliver on the mandate of the people to take back what belongs to them.

7. We also urge security agents to be on red alert to prevent anarchy in the face of the boiling anger of the people against exploitation and oppression. We can only win the battle ahead with cool heads. When our people come together like we are now, all we can do is win.

okay, this whole charade was cute at first, but does the Kogi State Government seriously expect us to swallow this whole "the people of Kogi are on our side" narrative they are so badly trying to paint?

for Krishna's sake, what manner of a flood ravaged, salary owed, poorly governed population would come out to protest in support of the Kogi State Government?

the PR firm wen dey hire no do better work abeg, even AlexReport go fit cook up a more believable story.

grin
At a time when unemployment is at its highest point, a government is engaging paid protesters to enforce a shutdown of one of the few viable productive brands in the country.
The overflowing effect will be a hike in prices of cement in an already fragile economy. Landlords will once again increase rents.
Whereas whatever issue there is could be handled by engaging in meaningful dialogue. If you investigate, this is probably an individual venting a personal vendetta on a pivotal company.
It's not as if I'm suggesting there are no issues, but they could be handled differently putting into consideration the beneficiaries

Dangote group for once have never improved the life of Nigerians, from poor treatment of its Nigerian staff and constant accidents, and of course the costly products.

HMMMMMMMMMM

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST HE IS FACING ALL THIS BA BELLE.

REMEMBER BENUE CEMENT ?

SAME SAME BROS.

EVERY COUNTRY THAT DANGOTE HAS GONE TO INVEST OVER SIXTEEN 16.

HE FACED ISSUES AFTER ALL CHALLENGES ARE SORTED. THE PARENT COUNTRY OR HOST COMES TO ROOST.

TAKING AWAY OBAJANA IS JUST A SCHEME TO ROOST.

GO AND FIND OUT OBAJANA IS WORLD BANK FINANCED.

IF HE CLOSES SHOP PREPARE TO BUY CEMENT AT 9-10 THOUSAND PER BAG.

IF YOU TRY THIS IN THE WESTERN WORLD NOBODY WILL INVEST IN YOUR SPHERE AGAIN.

Can the Kogi government state the value assets and liabilities sold to Dangote Industrial Limited?

It's very likely that the obajana deal wasn't transparent but let's not pretend that they sold a thriving factory to Dangote. Some sources claim that that Obajana cement only existed on paper.

Dangote should not budge.

If they want it back, they can go tell their sg and fake traditional rulers to buy it back from Dangote with interest. The buy back money should include equipment and installation cost, the building cost, the employees relocation and grievance cost.

We need to know more about the contract, to see if there were violations, but even violations depends on how severe, but violations are mostly punishable by fines.

The community can go to hell for all I care. You cannot have somebody or corporation, use their hard earned money to develop your area after both parties signed the contract, only for you people to come and steal seize it.

And Western world will never do this to Dangote. Yahaya Bello has taken a stand that will pursue major investors away from his state for years.

grin I am still curious where this misadventure is heading to, It is like telling Dr Mike Adenuga that he no longer owns Globalcom because he brought a paper company without assets, for all I know the Limestone Asset lies with the F.G , if you have any claim to doing any Exploration those claims should be forwarded to the F.G for compensation . The way you are going the F.G would through a special purpose vehicle cede the land to itself like the Lekki Free Trade Zone . I think the worst thing that could have happened to the Dangote Group was Ethiopia going to all out war and even at that the Good Lord calm the storm. Biko may our road be smooth.
