Good news to shareholders of Nigerian bank shares. When Nigerian banks go overseas, they fulfil and comply with their own countries laws so how will these foreign banks now come to Nigeria and start banking services without licenses for such. I support CBN on this patriotic move. If they want to become banks just get the license

The guys at CBN are just funny.

Every major bank in Nigeria as we speak has its majority shares owned by foreign banks!! Mainly Western banks. This is why you are charged double when you run an international transaction with a Nigerian bank! This Evil takeovers happened during the Soludo "Consolidation Program" and as far as I'm concerned, this is main reason why Nigerian banks are more driven to lend to traders for quick profits, rather than lend to the real sector of the economy to propell long lasting economic growth!

So how can you claim to have removed the foreign banks from local bank businesses if the socalled local banks are almost entirely owned by foreign banks
Emefiele and Buhari are one of a kind.

Yeah but you can still transfer to someone in the UK to sell on Lemonade or Grey Account and convert back to naira. So it's just at an additional charge.

I still use Wise

Is a lie ; banking laws are made to safeguard people who have investment but because of greedy people (officials involvedwink they then turn the thing round.

Oga comot from here with that Emefiele nonesense. Wise should go to Nigeria and open a taxable business.
People like you want a prosperous nation but can’t stand simple economic logic.
Fidelity bank as an example pays tax and employs thousands, yet a company that doesn’t have a single branch and never pays one kobo to the government nor employs anyone is your problem. You can hate the government but not your country.

Good move. If only it will make our indigenous banks improve their services instead of deductions money wantonly from customers without even the courtesy of sending you alerts.

These banks are the closest thing to daylight robberies.

You dey whine ni... Why won't it affect them all fintech will definitely be affected... Freelancers will also be affected cos now there's no way to easily convert your USD to niara and send to local bank account. You won't be able to buy anything online using online foreign account virtual cards.
priceactionx:
na wa .in this era of fintech and blockchains? Since they cant use their brains to develop how they can be benefiting from the transactions, they will always be clueless. Who is keeping this CBN governor for long? Well, crypto transactions will still find its way. Iam wondering if this will affect grey or geegpay.

When there's no head, every other parts is ineffective, if Buhari is right with a good economic adviser and minister of finance, Emefiele shouldn't be heading CBN by now. It's like Buhari don't like to fire his staff no matter how poor. I don't blame Emefiele but the dullard Buhari!
