A DevOps tool for managing source code is called Git. It is a free and open-source version control system that effectively manages small to extremely big projects. A source code change tracking tool called Git enables multiple engineers to work together on non-linear development. Linus Torvalds created Git in 2005 for the creation of the Linux kernel.

We should know the Git. This is becoming really popular to make the things easy for your know team and this is really an important skill for DevOps. Learn it from DevOps Training.

Git is a version control tool used to monitor changes made to digital assets. In software development, it is typically used for source code management.

- Git is a programme for keeping track of changes to source code.
- The distributed version control technology is employed for managing source code.
- It permits several developers to collaborate.
- Through its countless parallel branches, it encourages non-linear development.

Git Workflow
There are three different states in the Git workflow:

- Edit the files located in your working directory.
- Stage the files as well as add snapshots of them to the your staging area (Index).
- Git repository (Directory) - Make a commit to permanently store the snapshots in your Git directory. Make modifications to any version that
is already in existence, stage them, then commit.

Branch in Git
Git saves your modifications using branches until they are finished. You can work on a branch while the main branch (the master branch) is stable. You can eventually combine it with the main office when you're done.

There is a master branch, as seen in the diagram above. There are two separate branches called "little feature" and "large feature." You can merge the two independent branches once you've completed working with them to make a master branch.
